Some people spend way too much time looking for faults in others and even rendering them kaafir, rather than making ibaadaat and proving to be a good Muslim themselves

It's because of lack of knowledge of Islam and superiority complex.
It's honestly disturbing to see this coming for our Ummah. Some have lost the concept of Husnuzh Zhann (keeping a good opinion of others) and instead of prioritizing the reformation of a sinner, they just push them out of Islam which makes it way more disastrous.
If anyone reading this has a habit of looking for faults in others and making takfeer of them, please rethink your mindset. It would be far more beneficial for you to try and do your best to reform them and bring them closer to Deen rather than pushing them away.
