The struggle of Muslim’s life.

Whether rich or poor, young or old, healthy or sick, we are not free from trials and hardship. This world is only a place of test and not luxury.

Allah tells us that He has not created everything in vain, but rather there are purposes behind them, He has created mankind and jinns to worship Him, though He has no need of them, but only to test them.

And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me. (51:56)

Allah tells us that He will test us with calamities. Whatever it may be a natural disaster, artificial inflation, death of a beloved one, or painful illness, these have been decreed by Allah.

And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, (2:155)

The most pious Muslim is, the more severely he will be tested, Prophet peace be upon him himself told us that the most tested people were the Prophets, then the pious people, the severity of trials depends on one’s religious commitment.

Allah also tells us that whatever has stricken us is the result of our sins.

And whatever strikes you of disaster - it is for what your hands have earned; but He pardons much. (42:30)

Thus calamities reminds us to return back to Allah and seek His forgiveness.

As Muslims, we must be patient with whatever Allah is testing us with. He says that He does not burden any souls beyond whatever they can bear. However due to our weak faith, many of them do not accept whatever has happened, for example, it is common to see many women beating themselves out of their grief for the death of their beloved one, which is against Islam, as it is from Jahiliyyah.
