Fear Allah
when my family nag on about how important it is to cover
i go out with my friends in my smallest skirt and most revealing top.
but before i come back home i put on my abaya,
because its my family i'm afraid of n what they'll say,
not Allah n what He thinks of me everyday.
when my family press on about covering my hair for modesty's sake
i put on the scarf with half my hair showing n my earrings dangling out.
on returning home i pull the hijab over my head so that only my face shows,
because its my family i'm afraid of n what they'll think,
not Allah, in Whose sight i'm naked everyday.
when my family tell me not to wear make-up so i don't attract men,
i plaster my face with lispstick n mascara so the guys look me up n down,
but by the time i get home its all worn out so it don't really matter,
because its my family i'm scared of n what they'll do,
not Allah, in whose sight i'm disapearing from every second of my life.
i don't care about what Allah thinks or sees,
its my family n friends whi i'm more concerned about
because its them who are going to save me on the Day of Judgement.
It's them who will rescue me from Allah's anger.
Its them who will stop me from entering the Hell fire.
Allah won't hurt me if He knows i did it to please them although i displeased Him,
Allah won't throw me into the Fire if He knows i did it so i was popular in their sight,
He won't be angy,
will He?
"As we carry on our daily lives, how often do we remember that today could be the day that we might return to Allah."
