:sl:
I am also a fan of FIFA
According to my view the possibilities for winning the worldcup are as follows.

1st is Brazil.
Mostly due to Ronaldinho,Adriano and Kaka.

2nd is France
Due to Henry,Trezeguet and Vierra.

3rd is Germany
Due to Homeland and some great players like Ballack & Oliver Khan

:w: :thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou:

IRAN

Iran's national football squad is optimistic on its chances to qualify for the second round of the 2006 World Cup, according to an in-depth analysis released on Monday by Germany's bi-weekly kicker sports magazine.

The report pointed out although Iran had a tough time to find strong teams to prepare for the World Cup, the mood within the team is "optimistic" only 100 days before the start of the global football event.

The paper also added the Iranian players were "ignoring all discussions about banning Iran from the World Cup".

The magazine stressed the Iranian team did not feel unsettled in any way by all the talk about a possible World Cup ban.

Iran will open its 2006 World Cup campaign against Mexico in Nuremberg on June 11, then head to Frankfurt for an encounter with Portugal on June 17 and finally meet Angola in Leipzig on June 21.

This is Iran's third attendance at a World Cup after 1978 and 1998.

The brazilian team on paper looks frightning in attack, however in reality they have to revolve the team around Ronaldinho and Kaka. The three strickers are nothing without Ronaldinho and Kaka. Ronaldo well he's finished, the defnece isn't the best, but Brazil are probably the best team on the counter attack (similar to Chelsea) so they are a good team. However these are my favourites to lift jules rimet:
-Brazil
-England
-Holland
-Argentina
-Czech Republic
-Italy
-France

England has got some raw and raving talented players in the set up this year. No doubt it will be very close and amazing games. Looking from the player list for each country, it seems that Brazil may take the cup yet again. Overall I think that England and Brazil may face each other in the final and Brazil may out do them in the end. Germany will give some great matches and let’s not forget the Dutch. I think Germany, England, Brazil, Netherlands will qualify for the semi-final. Hopefully France will match up this year, Henry; Trezegeut etc may give them the perfect performance. Oooh, its going to be very close….edge sitting matches….legends will sprout….

Ronaldo is getting way too much unnecessary remarks from audience and his fans. He was a top player and will always be considered that but people have to realise that great players will eventually fade with age. Ronaldnhio on the other hand, is raw talent, quick on his feet, and he has a long way to go. Great player….and also lets not forget the other amazing Brazilian players!

England has some great players namely Terry, Gerrard, Lampard, Cole…..I think it is possible that this year may be a remake of 1966 when they toke the cup.

Some countries I didn’t expect to be there, hmm. I sure hope that Saudi Arabia don’t get battered by 8 goals this year.

Many countries with great players on the list….it’ll be interesting to see the scores!

I know Brazil is gonna win this one so I will support them... seriously speaking, never paid a bit of attention to footy... just watched games time to time like last WC final, etc... it is sad to see that Turkey missed out... would hav loved to see them do another upset... we won't see Christian Veiri either... I so wanted Kahn to be the first choice german GK but he is not... I hope that Lehmann guy gets injured before WC starts and then German turns to their former skipper Oliver Kahn... :giggling:

I really want Ukraine to win, but I'm realistic. If we finish second in our group, we have to play Brazil ( :grumbling ). I am also pulling for the USA, but it's in an impossible group, and I don't think the team is that great this year. I love Spanish football, and English, and Italian, but then again, Brazil does play a beautiful game. ;)

Oh, and I voted for Germany. It's their home turf. Ballack is doing great. I doubt they'll win, but I can dream. Ich liebe Deutschland. :)

INTERNATIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS

• Reached the final at 1970 and 1994 World Cup
• European champions in 1968

WORLD CUP RECORD

COLOURS

Blue shirts, white shorts, blue socks.

Italy's strong national league, boasting world-famous sides such as AC Milan, Juventus and Inter Milan, has traditionally provided the platform for a competitive Italy team. Over the years, Serie A has produced true legends of the game such as Roberto Baggio, Paolo Maldini, Franco Baresi, Gianni Rivera and the unforgettable Dino Zoff who played in the victorious 1982 side at the age of 40.

However, life has not always been a bed of roses for the Italians, who have suffered their fair share of disappointments, including an abrupt exit from the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan™. After battling their way through to the Round of 16, the Azzurri succumbed to hosts Korea Republic. Italy led for most of the match but conceded a late equaliser and the South Koreans secured victory with an extra-time golden goal.

The Italians have under-achieved in the last two major tournaments but enter the World Cup finals in genuine hope of winning the competition. Despite massive expectation back home, the 2006 flavour has sufficient in-depth quality to make an impact in Germany given a modicum of good fortune and providing they can emerge from a challenging Group E which contains the USA, Ghana and the Czech Republic.

At full-back Juventus' world class left-back Gianlucca Zambrotta will provide an attacking outlet. However, Palermo's Fabio Grosso may come in on the left side, allowing Zambrotta to move to the right. Although coach Marcello Lippi flirted with a back-three he now seems to have settled on a flat four for the finals.

The midfield mix, however, will decide Italy's fate. How will Lippi balance an eclectic group of talents that includes the nippy right-sided midfielder Mauro Camoramesi of Juventus, Milan's gifted Andrea Pirlo and Roma's Daniele de Rossi? Milan's Gennaro Ivan Gattuso will provide the midfield a backbone, which could be especially important given the potential loss of Totti.

Up-front veteran striker Alessandro Del Pierro could make the squad but is will not start up front for Italy. It is likely to be Milan's bright young star Alberto Gillardino - the Serie A sensation - and Fiorentina's target-man Luca Toni who will start the tournament. Squad depth will potentially come from Udienese's Roma-bound Vincenzo Iaquinta.

There may be no place in Lippi's squad for the gifted but unpredictable Real Madrid forward Antonio Cassano who did not make the spring training camp selection.

Goalkeepers Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus), Angelo Peruzzi (Lazio), Marco Amelia (Livorno)
Defenders Massimo Oddo (Lazio), Cristian Zaccardo (Palermo), Marco Materazzi (Inter Milan), Andrea Barzagli (Palermo), Alessandro Nesta (AC Milan), Fabio Cannavaro (Juventus), Gianluca Zambrotta (Juventus), Fabio Grosso (Palermo)
Midfielders Mauro Camoranesi (Juventus), Gennaro Gattuso (AC Milan), Andrea Pirlo (AC Milan), Simone Perrotta (Roma), Daniele De Rossi (Roma), Simone Barone (Palermo), Francesco Totti (Roma)
Forwards Luca Toni (Fiorentina), Alberto Gilardino (AC Milan), Filippo Inzaghi (AC Milan), Alessandro Del Piero (Juventus), Vincenzo Iaquinta (Udinese)

FORMATION (Example)

-----------Del Piero-------Toni-----------

Pirlo------Gattuso---Totti------Camoranesi

Canavora--Nesta---Zambrotta---Materazzi

-------------------Buffon-----------------

Team Stars
Gilardinho*
Toni*
Totti*
Del Piero*
Nesta*

COACH
Marcello Lippi (58) has seen it and done it more than once. Alex Ferguson's long time foe-cum acquaintance has won countless trophies as a club manager, latterly with Inter Milan but most famously with Juventus. Lippi took Juve to three scudetti, as well as the Champions League and one Intercontinental Cup before taking the Azzuri's reigns in 2004 after Trappatoni's second poor tournament in succession.

Salamu Aleykum

Saturday match was so boring, for england it was goal after goal after goal.
thier goalie was probably snoring the whole time because the ball rarely came to him or near his post.
Jamiaca were alright, though they played individually.

I'm afraid that in the world cup it won't be as easy as this though, i mean with teams like france, germany and the dangerous Brazil.

This is going to be one exciting world cup Insha allah.:) :)

Well in group H Ukraine has more chances than Saudi Arabia .
They have a very strong team with world class Star players

Captain Andriy Shevchenko is the star player of the team. He is a world-class striker who was awarded the 2004 European Footballer of the Year award. Ukraine's fortunes depend on this player. Andriy Vorobey and Andrey Voronin along with Andriy Shevchenko form a deadly attacking line.

After the host Germany, Ukraine was the first European team to qualify for Germany 2006 on 03rd Sep 2005 when they had 24 points and the second placed team, Turkey was 7 points behind at 17 points and both had 2 matches still to play. Ukraine topped its Group with 7 wins, 4 draws and 1 lost match. Its only loss was to Turkey. The fans are hopeful that Ukraine will put up a great performance at FIFA World Cup 2006 in Germany.

Therefore I think Spain and Ukraine may qualify to the second round from group H

I bet germany is going to go further than england. Germany's offense is good while englands offense stinks. England does have good D but when your going to play attacking teams you just can't rely on your D only.

When you win by a own goal thats an discrace, Germany might not make the final but they sure will rip england into pieces if they play eachother.
