View Full Version : US attempts to produce a united Iraqi government

Washington is increasing pressure on the leading Shiite parties to bring Sunnis into a government of national unity to help ease the tensions, reduce the killing and avert civil war.

The US even plans talks with Iran, to help resolve the problem. The plan is to bring together Shiites, Kurds and Sunnis into a united government

We know historically that the colonial powers split the Middle East by drawing lines in the sand, without consideration for the local culture.

As the US wants a united Iraqi government, how about the solution be the exact opposite?

How about separate countries, one for the Shiites, one for the Sunnies and another for the Kurds.

This would move the borders back to where they were throughout history. What do people think of this?

I think the US should mind its own business. Everytime they go into another country and try to impose their ideology on them, they always make matters worse than what they already were. People often forget that not everyone in the world thinks the way the US does. Different cultures have their own ideologies that almost never coincide with the US.
