Has anyone heard about the fake sheikh story and Islam Channel

I heard about it on islam Channel itself. The programme "Week In Review". on it Muhammed Ali, the CEO of Islam channel was on. He was commenting on what had been in the News Of The World

Apparently the "Fake Sheikh" is a pakistani from Lahore, goes by the name of Mahmood Mazar. He tried to do something on islam channel, but he got caught. basically he had several meetings with Mohammed Ali. Mohammed Ali said he was at first suspicious, because usually Mohammed Ali has to go around looking for volunteers or people to come on Islam Channel, and has to beg them, but in this case this person had come on free of will and was begging to be on. Mohammed Ali said however he thought nothing of it as he thought he may be one of the generous muslims of the ummah.
But Muhammed Ali's suspicious rose when the Fake sheikh visisted mohammed Ali while he was praying, and at seeing this he wenty to the toilet, came out immediately, and joined in the prayer. Mohammed Ali commented on this saying the man did not do wudhu, and probably assumed all muslims do is go toilet and then pray. (lol i thought it was quite funny myself)
Then George galloway had a meeting with muhammed Ali and he saw the Fake Sheikh and realised who he was and told mohammed Ali. http://www.respectcoalition.org/?ite=1027

I don't quite know what's happened since. Mohammed Ali said he can't say much due to legal reasons, i think they might be pursuing this in court. They contacted News of The world anyway, and basically they have all of the Fake sheikhs details, his pictures address everything. They are contemplating exposing these details. But Muhammed Ali argued that they are unlikely to do this as News of The World contacted them and said not to, as the guy has humiliated several people, and feel his life may be put in danger.

So mohammed Ali said although the events that had taken place were against the teachings of Islam, he said they themselves shoudl act accordingly with islamic ethics, and since it is likely to endanger the guys life they are unlikely to expose his details

Anyway, what do you guys think. i personally agree with the stance Mohammed Ali is taking, although the Fake sheikh has ticked several people before, it would be bad if his life was put in danger. Theres a poll going on on islamchannel www.islamchannel.tv on whether the details should be exposed or not
At the same time though i would encourage the guy to not try anything in future against any muslims anywhere, otherwise his details will be exposed. i think thats fair. I don't know the reasons behind this attempted tick, ut from what Muhammed Ali was speculating at was they were trying to catch muslims promoting terrorism. Has anyone else heard any more about this

Galloway purrs over rat-detection
By Sean O’Neill
The MP for Bethnal Green & Bow's big scoop turns out to be the identity of a newspaper reporter

AFTER the indignities of Celebrity Big Brother — who could forget the sight of the member for Bethnal Green & Bow in a figure-hugging red leotard? — the Westminster press conference billed as “urgent” was to be George Galloway’s political comeback.

His constituents in East London have been anxiously awaiting the restoration of their MP’s credibility.

So what would it be? News on the scandalously delayed rebuilding of the Royal London Hospital? An employment boost for this poverty-stricken corner of the inner-city? A relocation of the 2012 Olympic Stadium to Stepney Green?

Er, not quite.

The Respect MP’s big news, revealed yesterday, was the exposé of a Sunday newspaper reporter who specialises in exposés.

With his usual flair for the dramatic, Mr Galloway chose to publicly unmask Mazher Mahmood, the News of the World’s “fake sheikh” who delights in stinging the foolish, greedy and crooked.

Mahmood, 43, has embarrassed Sven-Göran Eriksson, Princess Michael of Kent, the Countess of Wessex, Carole Caplin and countless lesser-known folk in a long tabloid career.

But, until Mr Galloway published it yesterday, his picture had never been seen.

Mahmood’s newspaper, which, like The Times, is part of the News International group, chooses to by-line his stories with a silhouette image. Mahmood’s life, the paper says, has been threatened because he has put more than 130 criminals behind bars. His anonymity is key to his success.

Mr Galloway sought to end all that by releasing two pictures of Mahmood that he has also published on the internet, distributed to MPs and peers and sent to the Queen’s private secretary, asking for it to be passed on to all members of the Royal Household who might become one of Mahmood’s victims.

One picture shows Mahmood in flowing Arab robes and red headscarf, the second is from a Czech passport that Mr Galloway claims is an illegal document. He has reported the matter to the Czech authorities.

The MP’s ire was raised last week when Mahmood, posing as an Indian businessman who wished to fund Respect, tried to trick him over a long and expensive dinner at the Dorchester hotel.

According to Mr Galloway, the reporter tried to entice him into illegal activity — accepting funds from overseas — and made anti-Semitic remarks hoping that Mr Galloway would endorse them.

The Respect leader has reported the matters to Scotland Yard, which says that his complaint will be reviewed by its Specialist Crime Directorate.

“He didn’t fool me,” smirked Mr Galloway, who says he sidestepped the trap because he has a “well-honed sense for rats”.

Of course he could smell a rodent. After all, this is the man whose feline frolics — the miaowing, purring and cream-licking on Big Brother — brought his political message to a whole new audience.

This was also the MP who was on to Saddam Hussein and spotted his “courage, strength and indefatigability” well before anyone else.

Interesting.

If I was a fake sheikh, I'd call myself the 'Milk Sheikh'.

Don't tell me he was a Muslim too!

It is hard to believe I know this but this thread has been gazumped by the late Frank Zappa who once had an album called Sheikh Yerbuti.

Mind you, Frank Zappa, along with Cher, one of America's many unrecognised Armenians, could have passed I reckon. He wore the full head scarf thing for the photo on the album cover.

Frank Zappa is 37.5% Italian, 25% Greek, 25% Lebanese Arab and 12.5% French - I referred to wikipedia.

What is this... chemical composition???

Personally I'd like to hear people talking about my own "sub-ethnic composition", not the ones I made up myself. Hehe!:giggling:

That would explain why he is so unrecognised as one of America's Armenians.

Except Wikipedia does not say Lebanese Arab. I believe Zappa is short for Zapparian. But I was never a fan and I could easily be wrong.

lol@milk shiekh ans sheikh speare :giggling:

Extract from link in article:
The attempt was made on Saturday evening when two men – claiming to be Sam Fernando and Pervaiz Khan – said that they could provide illicit funding to him and to the party. He rejected the overture. The two also made anti-Semitic remarks which they encouraged Galloway to share. He did not.
This is foul play and they should be brought to book. The newspapers will go to any lengths for a good story.
Well these guys were working for the News of The World, so no wonder they advised Muhammed Ali not to take legal proceedings. (see below)

It transpires that the two men were actually working for the News of the World and that one of them was Mazher Mahmood, otherwise known as the ‘fake sheikh’.
i personally agree with the stance Mohammed Ali is taking, although the Fake sheikh has ticked several people before, it would be bad if his life was put in danger. Theres a poll going on on islamchannel www.islamchannel.tv on whether the details should be exposed or not
I think the fake shiekh should be exposed but I don't see why it would endanger his life? I think their exposure will be punishment enough.
