Al-Khushuaa in Prayers

Once we've entered the state of prayer, we must focus
Firmly on its proper performance; keeping limbs
And hands still without fiddling, resisting the whims
Of one's mind, seeking refuge from the sly hocus-
Pocus of the Whisperer who suggests, withdraws,
Then hides, and ignoring anyone who's actions
Might distract us. Follow what the Sunnah sanctions
And that will protect us from the factors that cause
A loss of reward. The kind of concentration
Isn't easy, so strive hard to raise your station.
This prayer plays a central part in our contract,
So we should try to be disciplined and exact.
True fear of Allah stops thoughts running riot,
Stills the body and provides the heart with quiet.
