MALAYSIA

Muslims
1) Eid Al Adha - all states (2 days for Kedah, Klantan, Perlis, T'ganu)
2) Awal Muharram (Islamic New Year) - all states
3) Maulud Nabi (Prophet Muhammad's Brithday) - all states
4) Eid Al Fitr - all states (2 days holidays)
5) Isra Miraj (Prophet Muhammad ascension to heaven) - Perlis, Kdah, NS only
6) Awal Ramadhan (1st day of Ramadhan) - Kedah, Kelantan, Johor only
7) Nuzul Quran (1st Revelation of Koran) - all states but Sabah, Sarawak, KL

Confucians-Taoists
1) Chinese New Year - all states (2 days holidays in most states)

Buddhists
1) Wesak Day (Gautama Buddha's birthday) - all states

Hindus
1) Deepavali (Diwali) - all states (except Sarawak)
2) Thaipusam - Johor, NS, Penang, Selangor, Perak only

Christians
1) Christmas - all states
2) New Year - all states (except - Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, Perlis, T'ganu)
3) Good Friday - Sabah, Sarawak only

Animists
1) Harvest Festival - Sabah and Labuan only
2) Gawai Festival - Sarawak only

I would like to travel somewhere inside Malaysia. But it's rainy season. So I'm stick to three days holiday. But Penang would be crowded because of Buddhist processions. St Anne's Day is somewhere this month isnt it - it'll be crowded too with processions.

i have to go to university... to finish my studies...(which i've been ignoring for a while coz i could not take leave and some other problems bla,bla and bla... which me myself fed up to think about it..)

so not really a holiday 4 me...

i would love to go to penang.... i've never been there....(hehehe sorry... not the type who usually travel other then 'kampungs' (hometown)

After u graduate and have job - go to Penang!

Penang and Kulim areas has lot of factories - go there and work, at least u can see that smelly sea on daily basis.

I live in the UK, so all the 'religious' public holidays we have are Christmas and Easter. I put 'religious' in inverted commas, since what religious significance there was for Christians on those holidays has been stifled by commercialism.
