ok ill go dirst, give me a detailed description of the heart....

wa alykum aslaam
bismillah hirahman niraheem.

the heart has 4 chambers which pump blood all around the body (circularitry system)

the right side pumps de-oxygenated blood whilst the left side pumps oxygenated blood

4 features of the heart- right ventricle, left ventricle, right atrium, left atrium

oxygenated blood returns from the heart from the lungs, it then leaves the left side to travel around the body.

the semi lunar valve is to prevent the back flow of blood

deoxygenated blood returns to the heart. it leaves the right side of the heart to go to the lungs.

thats what ive been revising from, inshallah hope its sufficient!

mashallah the circularitry system is soo amazing, subhanallah. its a very complex design, by an Almighty Creator.

nice there Hijabis sista,

ok enjambement, that is when the poet carries on to the next line,
the poet makes the poem really sensual to appeal to the senses (whats that called),
then there is ermmmm using sounds to give the poem the sound of something like the sea or the wind (i dont know what thats called)

^^^ would u believe i got an A* or my eng lit mock? i doubt it......

wots the mole?(please dont say something on your skin) :p how do you work it out???

:w:

Mr. Baldy
05-07-2005, 08:20 PM
aslaam alykum,

The mole is a large number, aprox 600 000 000 000 000 000 000 000

that = 1g of hydrogen
=12g of carbon
24g of magnesium

Therefore the relative atomic mass of an element can be expressed in grams contains ONE mole of atoms. This means that the number of atoms of an element can be worked out by weighing.

Calculations can be done by simple equations,

Moles of atoms = mass/RAM

Examples:
1) how many moles of atoms are there in 72g of Mg?
(RAM of mg= 24)

Write down the formula Moles= mass/RAM
rearang if necessary (not needed)
Subsitute the numbers moles= 72g/24
Write the answer and units moles = 3moles

2) what is the mass of 0.1 moles of carbon atoms?
(RAM of carbon = 12)
Write formula
rearange mass= moles * RAM
sub numbers mass= 0.1 * 12
Reply

Mr. Baldy
05-07-2005, 08:34 PM
3) how to work out chemical formulae:
What is the simplest formula of a hydrocarbon that contains 60g of carbons combined with 20g of hydrogen?
(RAMS = H=1 C= 12)
Write mass of each element C= 60 H = 20
work out moles using formula
find simplest ratio (divide by smallest number) 5/5= 120/5=1
Write the formula showing the ratio of atoms CH4 (LOL)

4) Moles of molecule
just add all the RAM masses together
e.g water = H2O (H=1, O= 16
The Relative Molecular Mass (RMM) = 1+1+16= 18

or

Carbon dioxide, CO2 (C=12, O=16)

The RMM = 12+16+16=44

('2' only applies to the oxgyen atom, coz theres 2 of them)

hope that helps, or has it just made u more confused??

only kidding!
this is about the only formula i like lolz,

a step up transformer is used to increase the voltage, in comparison to a step down transformer which decreases the voltage.

its something to do with a coil and the formula looks a bit likes this:

output voltage/ input voltage= secondary turnss/primary turns

a transformer is used in an eletricity station, it transforms something to something :p

its to do with the protons and nuetrons being able to move through a material. for example: beta rays wont pentrate the aluminium material but will penetrate the paper.
so it depends on the material used to sort of absorb the rays...

all knowledge comes from allah subhana watha allah.

ox bow lakes are better described as diagrams, its hard to explain,

meanders look back on themselves forming a curve
lateral erosion(dont see why it cant be called 'erosion') cuts through the narrow meander neck.
the river straightens it course
the old meander is now isolated on the flood plain.

an onomatpia, *sorry about the spelling* i think....is a word that sound like the word? for example, clatter of cans and cups? to evoke the sound of the hard material? im not sure though...i get them mixed up sometimes. :)

How to Revise in Business Studies
Revision List

Make sure you have a full revision list from your teacher. You must have a checklist of all the topics you must cover. Each topic must also be broken down into sub-topics. Put them in to a table so that you can tick them off as you complete them.

Revision Plan
Make sure that you have planned when you will revise each topic. Try to stick to this plan as best you can. The important thing is to give yourself enough time to cover all topics before you sit the examination.
Topic Read Through
Read through your class notes on the topic in question. Get a feel for what the topic is about and get yourself familiar with the specialist terminology used.
Condensed Summary Notes
You now need to reorganise your notes in to a more manageable revision form. You can do this on post card sized paper, or even blank post cards themselves.
This will give you a series of prompt cards for each topic studied. There is no point completely re-writing all your notes – remember that a little knowledge will go a long way if you have good exam technique.

Formulae, calculations and definitions

Revision is not about trying to commit things to memory. You cannot possibly memorise everything in your exercise books, and you should not attempt to. Revision is about understanding. However there are some elements of the subject that you really do need to have firmly in your mind before you go into the examination.

These are largely to do with the Finance and Accounts topic. You must know how to define and calculate:

Costs and Revenues

Gross and Net Profits (or Losses)

Gross and Net Profit to Sales Ratios

Break Even output/sales levels

Contribution

Assets and Liabilities (Current and Fixed/Long Term)

Working Capital

Current Ratio

Acid Test Ratio

Return on Capital Employed

Net Cash Flow and Closing Bank Balances

Write out a sheet with all the necessary formulae and definitions of each of these. It is very important that you know each of these and how to calculate them – they are easy marks to get if you can do it.

Examination Skills and Technique

Your final mark is going to be based not only on what you know but how well you are able to use that knowledge in the examination situation. To do this you must remember that every time you look at a question you must be able to SCAM:

S
UBJECT MATTER: know what the subject matter of the question is

C
OMMAND WORD: how does the examiner want you to answer the question? Is it a straightforward ‘State’ or ‘Outline’ , or does it require a more demanding approach, such as ‘Discuss’, ‘Explain’ , ‘Evaluate’ , ‘Describe’ or ‘Examine’ ?

A
ND………………..

M
ARK ALLOCATION: make sure you write with the mark allocation firmly in mind. have you got enough detail and explanation into your answer for the mark allocation?

The only way to develop these skills is to keep on practising past questions. These are always available form your teacher.

aslaam alykum,

limestone is used to purify, in the heat of the furnace the calcium carbonate breaks down to form carbon dioxide and calcium oxide, the calcium oxide reacts with the acidic impurities to form slag, it is ligher than molten iron so floats and can be tapped of.

ok when slag cools, what are its uses? list three.

:D Mineral Wool: http://www.eurima.org/mineral_wool/composition.html

Mineral wool has a unique range of properties combining high thermal resistance with long-term stability. It is made from molten glass, stone or slag that is spun into a fibre-like structure which creates a combination of properties that no other insulation material can match.

Namely the ability to:

  • Save energy
  • Minimise pollution
  • Combat noise
  • Reduce the risk of fire
  • Protect life & property in the event of fire
The properties derive from its structure, a mat of fibres which prevent the movement of air and from its chemical composition. All mineral wool products exhibit exceptional thermal, fire and acoustic properties. Inorganic rock or slag are the main components (typically 98%) of stone wool. The remaining 2% organic content is generally a thermosetting resin binder (an adhesive) and a little oil. Glass wool products usually contain 95% to 96% inorganic material.

Stone wool is made from volcanic rock, typically basalt or dolomite, an increasing proportion of which is recycled material in the form of briquettes. Slag wool is made from blast furnace slag (waste).

The briquette can be from recycled material
Glass wool is made from sand or recycled glass, limestone and soda ash; the same ingredients as for familiar glass objects such as window panes or glass bottles. In addition, glass fibre has boron added to improve its moisture tolerance.

CE Marking

The Construction Products Directive (89/106/EEC) requires products to be 'CE' marked which shows their conformity with EU standards. The CPD aims to harmonise the tests, performance declarations and conformity testing across Member States in order to remove any barriers to trade through having to comply with differing national standards.

A CE marked product can be sold anywhere in the European Economic Area. It should be noted that it is not a label of quality with, for example factors such as reliability or durability not taken into account.

Uses:

The using mineral wool section of this site focuses on Health Aspects to provide Practical Tips on using mineral wool and offer a series of case studies.

here are some duas for all thoz sitting exams :D

DUA BEFORE STUDYING
Allahumma infa'nii bimaa
'allamtanii wa'allimnii
maa yanfa' unii.

O Allah! Make useful for me what You
taught me and teach me knowledge
that will be useful to me.
--------------

Allahumma inii as'aluka
fahmal-nabiyyen wa hifthal
mursaleen al-muqarrabeen.

O Allah! I ask You for the understanding
of the prophets and the memory of the
messengers, and those nearest to You.
---------------

Allahumma ijal leesanee
'amiran bi thikrika wa
qalbi bi khashyatika.

O Allah! Make my tongue full of
Your remembrance, and my heart with
consciousness of You.
---------------

Innaka 'ala ma-tasha'-u
qadeer wa anta hasbun-allahu
wa na'mal wakeel.

(O Allah!) You do whatever You wish,
and You are my Availer and
Protector and the best of aid.
---------------

DUA AFTER STUDYING

Allahhumma inni astaodeeuka
ma qara'tu wama hafaz-tu.
Faradduhu 'allaya inda
hagati elayhi.
Innaka 'ala ma-tasha'-u
qadeer wa anta hasbeeya
wa na'mal wakeel.

O Allah! I entrust You with what I
have read and I have studied.
(O Allah!) Bring it back to me when
I am in need of it.
(O Allah!) You do whatever You wish,
and You are my Availer and
Protector and the best of aid.

DUA WHILE STUDYING SOMETHING DIFFICULT

Allahumma la sahla illama
ja-'altahu sahla wa anta taj
'alu al hazana etha shi'ta
sahla

O Allah! Nothing is easy except what
You have made easy. If You wish, You
can make the difficult easy.

DUA FOR ANXIETY

Allahumma inni a'oodhoo bika
minal-hammi walhuzni, wal-'ajzi
wal-kasali wal-bukhli wal-jubni,
wa dal'id-dayni wa ghalabatir-
rajaal

O Allah! I seek refuge in You from anxiety
and sorrow, weakness and laziness,
miserliness and cowardice, the burden of
debts and from being oppressed by men.

DUA FOR DISTRESS

Allahumma rahmataka arjoo falaa
takilnee ilaa nafsee tarfata
'aynin wa aslih-lee sha'nee
kullahu, laa ilaha illa anta

O Allah! It is Your mercy that I hope for
so do not leave me in charge of my affairs
even for a blink of an eye and rectify
for me all of my affairs. None has the
right to be worshipped except You.

"oh my Lord, relieve my mind, and ease my task for me" - this one is unbelievable, it helped me so much

and here are a few a teacher gave me:

1. KAA-HAA-YA-'AIN-SAAD HAA-MEEM-'AIN-SEEN-QAAF
starting at right hand small finger, read each letter e.g. KAA and close a finger upon reading a letter
2. rabbi yasir, wala tu'asir wa tamim bil khair, wa bika nasta'eenu yaa fataahu
3.duroode ibrahim
4. sahil yaa ilaahee kula s'abin bihur mati sayidil abraari sahil
5. Ya Qawiyu - i just tend to keep repeating this before the exam along with 'oh my lord relieve my mind...' and its great mashallah!!

Well, I've got like two GCSE exams everyday day unfortunetly.

I'm quite silly, as I chose the most academically challenging subjects. These are:

French. History, Geography, IT , RE and not to forget Eng lit, language, double Science and Maths!

They're all in a couple of days

If anyone has any tips please post them!

Jazakallah

So in that case high-school graduates are 16 year olds? Subhanallah. They get to graduate two years earlier, that's not fair :)
