Assalaamu Alaikum

I don't know where to start from. OK I would start from my own "ignorance."

Sincerely, I am interested in knowing the reason behind so many Islamic forums, like Gawaher, LI, TowardsIslam, Muttaqoon, Al-Hidayaah, etc. thousands of them r there. Everyone is welcome to advertise it and we go and join it and say and read the same things we read on other forums.

Let me be more clear. I am not talking about websites which spread knowledge. I am talking about forums. Wat is the point of joining them? Now let's take LI. many of members r from Gawaher, me too. Haven't we discussed the same things before?

I just wanna know the reason behind various forums and having almost same members.

If i am truly honest, it is to waste time. and it can get addictive. I used to be on many forums. Now i visit only this. I also visit gawaher, but that is rarely and i dont post there. But i visit lot of non-muslim forums ( i know u were upset about the christianforum), but it is for good cause, isnt it? People are misinformed about Islam and it is upto use to show them otherwise.

using forums such as this is not a waste of time. i think it is great to join a great forum like this because you learn alot of things regarding islam. people like me are new and are eager to learn more about islam. its not our fault if other people get addictive. mashallah this forum is the best and you can learn a lot as well.

This happenedto me. :-[ I was nothing but a "spammer" on forums, wasting time and stuff. ??? but no use :thumbs_do so I stopped :) and now I only visit three forums, Gawaher, LI, and physicsforums. :D

Now i visit only this. I also visit gawaher, but that is rarely and i dont post there. But i visit lot of non-muslim forums ( i know u were upset about the christianforum), but it is for good cause, isnt it? People are misinformed about Islam and it is upto use to show them otherwise.
I hope u don't mind me asking why u kinda of left Gawaher?
And about non muslims forums, I also have done that too. Most of non-muslims on such forums come with sole purpose of "bashing." It is not their ignorance, it is their arrogance, :thumbs_do U try hundred times to clear misconceptions regarding Islam, hundred and one time they will come with their lame excuses not to accept your refutations.

A sincere :brother: 's advise

How did you come to this forum?? of course the link given on main page of the website,"load-islam.com"What I am saying is, instead of creating another forums, akhi who made the website should have given link to Gawaher. This is wat my understanding is :)

Looking on the plus side, Many kids are joining the islamic sites. Lets face it, i would be very glad if any kid joins these websites than other dubious/haram ones or worse. The kids could hang out bad crowd, so these forums are way for them to socialise from afar. Of course you get the odd ones where haram things are happening.

socializing!!!
where u live brother?? Aren't there any people arnd you?? Did I get u wrong? :p
Br Khaldun, did I deny the purpose of this forums? I know it is for good but I am saying is why u don't do the same things on only one islamic forums and stick to it instead of having many forums. I am not against many Islamic websites but I fail to see the reason behind many islamic forums.

btw did anyone look at the recent replies? if I am not wrong, all of them belong to "general Chat." now akhi, pls also have a look at every forums's last reply. I mean if u look at refutaations forums, u may find the last reply was posted some 10 hrs ago, same with other Islamic forums. And I am sure what we contribute to Islamic forums is no way near what we contribute to Geberal Chat and other forume like "brother's Section" and "sister's section."

I hope u see my point

this forum is an advantage to everyone as long as they use it correctly, people only complain because such things may not interest them. if you are complaining about this forum then no-one is asking you to come online. this is directed to people who complain and don't use this forum properly

Lets face the facts, socialising on the internet is addictive. Full stop, you know it, and i know it.

And when we add kids to the formula, we get, kids who always stay online on the computer and dont learn the real world.

What is the use of the forums?? U need to discuss Islam?? Islam had been perfected centuries ago. U need to share knowledge?? then what r websites for? And there is a difference between sharing knowledge and debating arnd.

btw u brought a good point!!
if you are complaining about this forum then no-one is asking you to come online.

:sl:

it really depends what the forums purpose is, if the forums purpose is to, promote islamic knowledge then we are doing far from that. If its to socialise then this forum is not a waste of time because its simply in accordance to forum purpose.

But in my arguements i was assuming that this "islamic forum" is used for islamic purposes.

How about new muslims who reverted because of their discussions with muslims or new muslims who learnt much from the muslim forums. What about those?

I know few new reverts who had no intention of reverting but after visiting Islamic forums, got to know Islam. Interacting may be beneficial in these cases.

The point of debates is to come at some sold conclusion and I came at the conclusion that I should leave now.

btw akhi metsudaistwice, how many r there who accept Islam through forums? I am sure not more than when people tr to find out stuff on their own through meeting real people.

and as I said, if it is an Islamic forums, why we contribute so much to General Chat? talking about age, gender, most embarrasing moments,?? wat's the point of talking such non sense??

some peole who try to revert can find out about islam and get some knowledge. we have other threads just as fun so we can communicate with our brothers and sisters in a good islamic enviroment.

a few things you should keep in mind brother Bin_Qasim as said before these forums have a large amount of "kids" (no offense) soo it is bound to be less sophisticated then other forums that might have a higher average age. Secondly our forums are relativly new soo inshAllah bear with us. As for the reason for soo many different Forums I agree with you dear brother, but at the same time, as long as the forums are in harmony with eachother there shouldnt be a problem, and I have nothing against other forums and as you know I am myself a member of IF so I like it very much alhamdulilah.

and a last and final point brother i dont wish for you to leave us, and I hope that your "first" impression of LI will change inshAllah :brother:

Woudnt you rathar be here than in a haram website? Forums that are from Music singers and of the like? Isnt this better? We are talking yet not doing any thing bad. I am surprised though that there is hardly any idle chit-chat. we talk about good , though some topics are just idle.

It seems we have identified a problem but complaining about it doesnt help, we must act and InshaAllah our actions will influence others.

and by there being alot of good islamic forums, it increases the chances of a non-muslim finding an Islamic forum and learning Islam and later Inshallah converting :)

Wrong is, it is a forum. I don't need to discuss Islam so much. I need to apply more than that. :D
we all need to know that there is no point in joining thousands of forums even if they r islamic.

The point of islamic forums....well each one of them has a purpose eg some forums are created for the purpose of MUSLIMS learning more about ISLAM...some to teach NON-Muslims about islam i.e give dawah...some are created just for sisters in Islam and talk about women in Islam...at the end of the day the purpse of creating each forum is to spread ISLAM....some forums might be similar..ands due to memebers!

I simply stick to ONE Islamic forum Load-Islam! Alhamdulilaah. All though i brows other forums in order to increase my knowldge of Islam.

Let me reignite the debate once again... ;D

I think I did 1000 good to myself when I joined LI... I mean here are so many of knowledgable people around like bro Farhan, bro Ansar al Adl, etc who can answer almost any of your questions related to religion as soon as possible... apart from that, I also try to read every healthy discussion there is to read... I hav benefited much from LI... this is not a comparison post but gawaher has lost its' value in my eyes... :thankyou:

but I still stick to my main point of what is the need to have so many of forums... it is similar to hav thousands of sects we hav today in Islam... :)

anyways, I am not forcing anyone to stick to LI only and do not visit other forums... but it wastes ur own time instead u would do good by reading some books... :brother:

just my 3 cents... :)

as a non muslim, i find this is the best islamic forum that i've checked out. you may have dozens of islamic forums but they are really not all the same. i guess it depends on the individuals who make it up.
i not only learn about islam but another important thing is that interacting with people who i don't agree with teaches me more about myself than a bunch of people who think just like me.
so i find it very valuable and this is the best!

that time I remember what exactly I thought of LI... just another islamic forums for God knows what reason... I think I even asked you for the reason of having different forums through PM but now I think whoever created this site has done a greta service... apart from that, as sister swanlake said earlier in this thread, gawaher has become much more restrictive... who can give the best opinion on it but the person who was suspended twice... ;D

seriously speaking, I hav learned very much over here... :)
