Salaams

I am not a scolar but somebody had asked the same question and the maulana/ shiekh said that since they were a form of adornment they were not allowed if worn infront of na-mahram man.

YES, i also wear contact lenses for sight. But clear sight for me from my opticians was not available due to my prescription. My eyes are brown and my contacts are brown. It is not visible to anyone and does not attract attention, i would just like to know the ruling

sis well ok now lets be abit logic well If they are the same colour to your eyes then wear them but if they are too too bright then that attracts attention, now on behalf sis my eyes are blue and bright but i was raised from a christain whom had blue eyesy so god created me with them so i do wear clear for sight at times but not colour.
sis i suggess you ask someone who is logic on this info cause i am a revert and sis i don't have a problem with contacts cause in the past i used to wear them too but not anymore but just be careful how you wear them and also when you need to trake them out then thats allowed :p

InshaAllah this will help you. :)

Praise be to Allaah.

There are two types of contact lenses:
  1. Ophthalmic contact lenses: those that are used to correct long- or short-sightedness etc. There is nothing wrong with using this kind of contact lenses on the advice of a specialist eye-doctor.

  2. Coloured cosmetic contact lenses: these come under the rulings on adornment. If a woman wears them for her husband, there is nothing wrong with it. If she is wearing them where others will see her too, then it should not cause any fitnah or temptation. There is also the condition that they should not cause any harm, and there should be no element of cheating or deceiving, such as a woman wearing them when she meets the man who is proposing marriage to her. Also, they should not be extravagantly expensive, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “… and waste not by extravagance…” [al-An’aam 6:141].

And Allaah knows best.

What is the difference between wearing a fake eye color and lieing about the color of your eyes?

One difference is that in one your just showing your fashion sense, and in the other your openly expressing that what they see is what you are.

Its the same, essitianly when one wears a jacket which makes them look 'muscly'

Isn't it?

I attended a ceromony where the bukhari shareef was nearly on getting finished studied!

If one can tell that the person is wearing contact lenses as in its recongnisable that its contact lenses its allowed if not then it isnt allowed!

and allah knows best :)

I would consider both being identical.

But, that is simply my opinion. I believe we should wear should wear modest clothing and anything that is worn to enhance physical features is not modest in my viewpoint.

Well um, if hair extensions are not allowed (according to the Prophet, SAW), then why would colored eye contacts be?

Then again what if you wear contacts because you can't see, and they're colored, but just because they're colored you can't wear them?

And why is make-up allowed in front of your husband, but a wig or hair extensions is not allowed ever? Weeeeeeeird.

people seem to be overlooking this post. she had no choice due to her prescription - clear ones were not an option.
also, the colour is the same as her own colour.

Sister, why would you want that? honestly, if they cant see a difference then there's no point and if they can then some people say it's "deception"

on a brighter note, am getting glasses soon, hope I end up looking smart, is that a deception too?

lol :p

^How are you changing anything sis? You can take them off again and your back to normal. :)

Its just changing a colour, like getting a tan, colouring your hair, wearing make-up etc.

I personally find them either fake or scary though. This one girl had blue ones and I was literally scared to look at her eyes lol.

Wa aleykum salam,

Im just wondering how wearing something is changing Allah's creation. If a person wears a coat they aint changing the creation. Furthermore, then it would mean braces aren't allowed cos they really do change and twist your teeth.

Or you find them nice without knowing, there might have been some natural contacts that yuo looked at but because they seemed so natural yuo didnt notice.

Always a possability

Just as I posted, the mod had closed the thread, lol. So I found this thread and I add the link to my post in that previously closed thread.

http://www.islamicboard.com/953195-post4.html

I see others aswell said how wearing contact-lenses doesn't change Allah's creation, because same would apply to many other things.. (see earlier posts on this thread).

A woman shouldnt beautify herself for ghair mahrams - that is the ruling for adornments. I mean a man may not be find a woman's eye colour attractive but if she were to enhance it with contacts, he might change his mind. So the element of fitnah is there.
I agree, however the fatwa posted from islamqa is unlikely to be allowing women to wear contacts in front of non-Mahrams since they follow the niqaab opinion anyway!

Niqaabis should cover their eyes anyways if they're gonna wear make up or colored contacts. That's a given.. But not everybody does what they should do, nor can we really judge 'em.

Why would you wear coloured contacts from the start? from a personal view whoever have seen with coloured contacts on look quite scary and unatural to me.
the colour of your eyes in its natural form is the beauty Allah swt has bestowed upon you and looks beautiful the way it is so why would you wanna make yourself look artificial and scary by hiding your natural beauty by coloured lenses that i'm sorry to say dont even look good.

i find that many asian women that i know or have known wear coloured contacts in fact some of my close friends wear them but i always say to them preaching left aside i tell them the truth that they look scary!
