View Full Version : Life is a test

Salam Alaikum

In life we often encounter many opportunities, many times we get a hold of knowledge or resources that will not just benefit us but others as well. Yet many times we hold on to it thinking "if I tell him / her, they will get ahead of me" And as a result not share it with others. Some example are:

- You get knowledge of a job opportunity, u know another person who is also looking for a job but just so that your chances are increased you dont tell them about it.

- You get bring home some yummy food and suddenly some people arrive to visit you and you quickly 'hide' it thinking il eat it after they are gone.

These concepts are not Islamic concepts.

Why?

Because in Islam we believe in Qadr (predestination), meaning what is meant for us will come our way and what is not meant for us we will not get. However that dosent mean a person stops trying.

Always remember that everything in life is an opportunity, though we may not see it as such but everything is! Examples:

- You get info of a job opening:
Option A: You tell others about it and in turn get good deeds
Option B: You dont tell others in turn losing an opportunity to gain good deeds

Result: If you were meant to get that job you will get it irrespective of how many people applied, if you were not meant to get it, you wont even if you were the only one who applied. The test was for YOU to see if you will share and care or be selfish!

- Your parents fall ill and you have to serve them every day and it is really messing up your private life:
Option A: You can serve them and get the greatest of good deeds and even gaining paradise in turn.
Option B: You can run away with excuses and lose this great opportunity for gaining paradise.

Result: Irrespective of wether you care for your parents or not - if they are meant to die they will die, if they are meant to live they will live. The test was for YOU to see if you will fulfil your obligations or act in a self centered manner!

- You bring home some food, some take away (something really good!), suddenly a bunch of guests arrive
Option A: You share with them your food and show them hospitality and in turn gaining good deeds.
Option B: You hide the food and save it for later, though ull enjoy the meal in private later but you will lose the opportunnity to do good!

Result: Irrespective of wether you serve your guests the food or not, they will get the food (from somewhere else) if it was ordained for them, if it was not ordained then even if you offer them they will not eat it. The test was for YOU to see if you are going to serve your guests or only think of yourself!

These are just a few simple examples of opportunities we get presented to do good or turn away from good - can you think of any more?

Think deep and analyze your life's every moment and try and guess what the challenge is and what the opportunities are.

Remember: Every minute of every day of every year in Life is a test!

See , now this is the kind of stuff that people need to know - not the rest of the crap that floods the world and people's minds. Jazakallah kheir for that, bro akulion. As always, you bring some relevant and intellectual information to LI. Great stuff :D.

Walikum Salam bro

Jazak Allah khair.

You are correct about what you said.

The people with more blessings whether they are "looks" or "riches" will have more to answer for on the day of judgement.

While the people who were not given as much on this Earth will enter Paradise a lot lot sooner that those other "more blessed" people.

Also there is a story once someone told me which I really liked and still remember, it somewhat relates to this post so I will share it.

There was once a woman who said "I will love God like no other has before"
So she set in saying her rayers properly, reading the Quran and doing every little and big thing Allah had commanded.

However her life became very difficult, she accepted it as part of the whole "doing the right thing" campaign of hers. However soon she also became extremely ill as a result lost her job and got thrown out of her house cos she couldnt pay the rent. additionally the court gave custody of her kids to her ex-husband. She was devestated by this!

She tried to get up and make a "go" of things but at every turn she met failure and 'bad luck'. finally she had enough and as she stood on the street cried out "why dont you love me God?"

At this point a man passing by stopped and said, "I know of the claim you made to love God like no other has before and I would like to inform you of something."

she asked "what?"

He replied, "If you think to love God means that the blessings of the world will be put on your doorstep, you are mistaken! In the Quran Allah said, 'If we had sent this Quran on a mountain it would surely have crumbled to dust!'. But you see it was sent to human beings, who are far stronger and when they take the weight of this quran on their shoulders and carry it forward on the path to love God they will face many hardships! For you see the path to loving God is not paved with rose petals, but it is paved with the tears of blood of people who have sacrificed in the name of God"

So indeed, "Heaven is in the shades of the swords" (swords here represent hardship and sacrifice)

We just have to remember life will end irrespective of what we do - but we just have the choice to either live it trying to do the rght things - or just ignore all obligations and spend it living for ourselves and no one else!

result: At the end, the beggar, the comman man and the King all rest in the same bed, the bed of their graves.

To be honest, at first when i saw the name of the thread i thought it was going to be smth about hereafter, as there's that famous saying : Life is a test to determine whether we are worthy of paradise:) .
