:sl:

another questions, kinda puzzled...needs answering inshalah....

is it permissible to have lunch in a restuatant where alcohol is being sold? even thou the food is halaal, some owners are muslim...is it allowed in islam? For instance places like zeera, tasfirin and many bricklane resturants in london. Only place i feel safe is barakah besides east london mosque and and pfc's....

i kinda know the answers....but need more views from evryone inshalah!

Not necessarily. There are restaurants which do not serve alcohol.

As for the question, I'm not sure so I won't attempt to answer in case I confuse matters further.

sorry for the confusion i mean sis an asian Restuarant most christains may go so thats why they sell them, but then again hmm..why do they? cause i thought muslims can't touch Alcohol :rollseyes hmm...well they will find out what they get when they stand towards there lord and will be questioned. people just do it for money but then again money doesn't come first your creator comes first like you would say, ''money is gold but fearing your lord is gold''

it's the only place where food is served within a 30 minute walking distance. and a place where friends only like to meet.

Assalamu'alaikum wa rahmatullah

Sis here I have a fatwa for you concerning this :

Question :

Is it permissible to eat at restaurants where alcohol is served?.

Answer :

Praise be to Allaah.

If it is possible to eat elsewhere then it is not permissible to eat at these places, because that involves cooperating with them in sin and transgression, which Allaah has forbidden. If it is not possible to eat elsewhere then it is permissible to eat there in cases of necessity, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

and has not laid upon you in religion any hardship

[al-Hajj 22:78]

Allaah burdens not a person beyond his scope

[al-Baqarah 2:286]

But he should not eat or drink anything except that which Allaah has permitted.

Had this discussion with an elder member of my family 3 days ago,he got really worked up over my view.

But still,im sticking to my opinion.

As far as i am concerned,There is nothing wrong with eating where alcohol is served,as long as the Food is halal.

And no,i dont mean the Pub,..yes,the peanuts/pretzels are halal, but the Business revolves around Alcohol.

At resturants, the business revolves around Food, but inorder to attract non-muslim customers as well, they have to do something.

Most of the Halal places i know of (in nz) dont sell Alcohol, they have a B.Y.O option though, which is fair enough.

So if i a customer wants to drink, they can bring their own booze. If they wish to be sober, then good on them.

But yeah, like i said,No,i dont see anything wrong with eating somewhere where alcohol is served,as long as you're not drinking it.

The elder said to me "You can eat there if you want to!that goes to show your level of taqwa!"

Well, come to think of it,if that is the case, then we shouldnt even buy bread from cornershops/supermarkets that sell wine or pornographic magazines.

Wa'salaam

..is the food served there Halal?

If so,then i dont see why not.

Its just that,i dont know many non-muslims that serve Halal food,..Not in NewZealand anyway.

Q1. A= It is not a good idea toeat in a place where alcohol is being served.

It's a bit like the hadeeth about keeping good company:

A person who has good friends is like the person who enters a musk shop, he wil either buy some nice musk, or he will get a nice smell as he comes out of the shop.

But a person who has bad friends, it is like the blacksmith, he will either be in danger of getting his clothes burnt, or he will pick up a bad smell from the smoke etc.

In the same way, By eating in a place where alcohol is being served, you will either get put off becuase of the drunkards' behaviour when they have gone over the top, or, leave with the smells from the alcohol.....

My 2 cents, I've specified a hadeeth too to back it up, so that you may find it more easier to accept.

If you're having a meal at a pub (can you eat at a pub? :? ),yeah, there will be Drunks walking about you,..

...but at resturants, there are hardly ever any drunkards. :)

bro not necessarily halal but with vegetarian options....
In that case,i dont see anything wrong with it.

But once again, that is my opinion. :)

Take McDonalds for example, they have 'vegetarian' options too, but sometimes, they have been found to be cramming in Cow fat/ pig fat etc. at times.

Atleast with a Muslim owner, you'll atleast have the satisfaction that they wont be putting anything dodgy into their food, unless they are dodgy of course.

Im glad you said "unless they are dodgy ofcourse",otherwise i was going to give you a lecture ;D

I know a guy who opened a takeaway here in Auckland,he named it ZAMZAM.

Everyone thought "Masha'allah!"

His business was going very well, but then someone found out that he was using Haram cheese and other haram dairy products in the food.

The leaders of the community confronted him,..

..His response?

"So?"

His business wasnt open for much longer.

Kheir,better late than never.
