salaam,
I heard this hadith and wanted to share it with you.

It comes in al-kabaair, hafiz shamsuddin dhahabi narrates it-

Ali and Fatimah (rad) say, we came to Nabi(saw), we found him crying uncontrollably, they said, oh Nabi of ALLAH (saw) what makes you cry in this manner.
He(saw) said oh Ali(rad), I am recalling a moment when I went for me'raj and I ascended the heavens, on that particular night I found six catergories of the women of my ummat being subjected to such form of torment that every time I think about that azaab it makes me cry, he (saw) then started to explain,

I seen a women hung by her hair suspended in the depth of jahannam, her brains were boiling. Then i seen a women hung by her toungue, and the water of jahannam was being poured down her throat. Then I seen a women hung by the upper portion of her chest. Then i seen a women, her legs were tied to her chest and her hands were tied to her forehead. Then i seen one women, she was disfigured, she had the head of a swine and the body of a donkey, snakes were surrounding her. Then i seen a women in the form of a dog, and the angles were stiriking her.
Then Fatimah(RAD) stood up cried and embraced her father, and asked, oh Nabi of ALLAH(SAW) what were the crimes of these women that they were subjected to such forms of azaab?
The Nabi of ALLAH(SAW) held his daughter and said,
With regards to the women who was hung by her hair, she walked outside freely, exposing and revealing her hair to strange men. The one who was hung by her toungue, she used to verbally abuse her husband. That women who was hung by the upper portion of her chest, she was an immoral women an unchaste women smiling with strange men. That women whose legs were tied to her chest and her hands tied to her forehead, this women was very negligent with the aspecty of purity, when it came to the period after her menstural cycle, she had to purify herself so she could pray her salaah. And with regards to that women who was disfigured, she was one who carried tales and she used to lie openly. With regards to that women who was in the form of a dog, she was one who constantly reminded others about her favours and her heart is ful of jealosy.

It's good to be scared of the punishments of Allaah, because they make a person afraid of and stop people from doing haraam things insha'Allaah.

This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah; (Qur'an 2:02)

same for sinful things and punishments

Subhanallah, indeed the punnishment of Allah is severe.

Protect your family from the fire of Jahannam, who's fuel is men and stones!

I think if every family member looked out for eachother, hopefully, these things wont happen inshAllah!

Al-Jannah - The Paradise.

Description of PARADISE...

Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem

Description of Paradise
by Imaam Ibn al-Qayyim, Rahimahullaah

Ibn al-Qayyim said, in regards to the description of the Paradise and
the delights that it contains:

"And if you ask about its ground and its soil, then it is of musk and saffron.

And if you ask about its roof, then it is the Throne of the Most Merciful.

And if you ask about its rocks, then they are pearls and jewels.

And if you ask about its buildings, then they are made of bricks of
gold and silver.

And if you ask about its trees, then it does not contain a single tree
except that its trunk is made of gold and silver.

And if you ask about its fruits, then they are softer than butter and
sweeter than honey.

And if you ask about its leaves, then they are softer than the softest cloth.

And if you ask about its rivers, then there are rivers of milk who's
taste does not change, and rivers of wine that is delicious to those
who drink it, and rivers of honey that is pure, and rivers of water
that is fresh.

And if you ask about their food, then it is fruits from whatever they
will choose, and the meat of whatever birds they desire.

And if you ask about their drink, then it is Tasneem, ginger, and Kaafoor.

And if you ask about their drinking cups, then they are crystal-clear
and made of gold and silver.

And if you ask about its shade, then a fast rider would ride in the
shade of one of its trees for a hundred years and not escape it.

And if you ask about its vastness, then the lowest of its people would
have within his kingdom and walls and palaces and gardens the distance
that would be travelled in a thousand years.

And if you ask about its tents and encampments, then one tent is like
a concealed pearl that is sixty miles long.

And if you ask about its towers, then they are rooms above rooms in
buildings that have rivers running underneath them.

And if you ask about how far it reaches into the sky, then look at the
shining star that is visible, as well as those that are far in the
heavens that the eyesight cannot possibly reach.

And if you ask about the clothing of its inhabitants, then they are of
silk and gold.

And if you ask about its beds, then its blankets are of the finest
silk laid out in the highest of its levels.

And if you ask about the faces of its inhabitants and their beauty,
then they are like the image of the Moon.

And if you ask about their age, then they are young ones of 33 years
in the image of Adam, the father of humanity.

And if you ask about what they will be hearing, then it is the singing
of their wives from among the Hoor al-'Ayn, and better than that are
the voices of the Angels and the Prophets, and better than that is the
Speech of the Lord of the Worlds.

And if you ask about their servants, then they are young boys of
everlasting youth who resemble scattered pearls.

And if you ask about their brides and wives, then they are young and
full-breasted and have had the liquid of youth flow through their
limbs; the Sun runs along the beauty of her face if she shows it,
light shines from between her teeth if she smiles; if you meet her
love, then say whatever you want regarding the joining of two lights;
he sees his face in the roundness of her cheek as if he is looking
into a polished mirror, and he sees the brightness from behind her
muscles and bones; if she were to be unleashed upon the World, she
would fill what is between the Heavens and the Earth with a beautiful
wind, and the mouths of the creation would glorifiy, praise, and
exclaim greatness, and everything between the East and the West would
be adorned for her, and every eye would be shut from everthing but
her, and the light of the Sun would be outshone just as the light of
the Sun outshines the light of the stars, and everyone on the face of
the Earth would believe in the Ever-Living, the One who Sustains and
Protects all the exists.

And the covering on her head is better than the World and all that is
in it, and she does not increase with age except in beauty; free from
an umbilical cord, childbirth and menses, and pure of mucous, saliva,
urine and other filthy things; her youth never fades, her clothing is
never worn out, no garment can be created that matches her beauty, and
no one who is with her can ever become bored; her attention is
restricted to her husband, so she desires none but him, just as his
attention is restricted to her so she is the sole object of his
desire, and he is with her in utmost safety and security, as none has
touched her before of either humans or Jinn.

And if you ask about the Day of Increase (in reward) and the visit of
the all-Mighty, all-Wise, and the sight of His Face - free from any
resemblance or likeness to anything - as you see the Sun in the middle
of the day and the full Moon on a cloudless night, then listen on the
day that the caller will call: 'O People of Paradise! Your Lord -
Blessed and Exalted - requests you to visit Him, so come to visit
Him!' So they will say: 'We hear and obey!'

Until, when they finally reach the wide valley where they will all
meet - and none of them will turn down the request of the caller - the
Lord - Blessed and Exalted - will order His Chair to be brought there.
Then, pulpits of light will emerge, as well as pulpits of pearls,
gemstone, gold, and silver. The lowest of them in rank will sit on
sheets of musk, and will not see what those who are on the chairs
above them are given. When they are comfortable where they are sitting
and are secure in their places, and the caller calls: 'O People of
Paradise! You have an appointment with Allaah in which He wishes to
reward you!' So they will say: 'And what is that reward? Has He not
already made our faces bright, made our scales heavy, entered us into
Paradise, and pushed us away from the Fire?'

And when they are like that, all of a sudden a light shines that
encompasses all of Paradise. So, they raise their heads, and, behold:
the Compeller - Exalted is He, and Holy are His Names - has come to
them from above them and majestified them and said: 'O People of
Paradise! Peace be upon you!' So, this greeting will not be responded
to with anything better than: 'O Allaah! You are Peace, and from You
is Peace! Blessed are You, O possessor of Majesty and Honor!' So the
Lord - Blessed and Exalted - will laugh to them and say: 'O People of
Paradise! Where are those who used to obey Me without having ever seen
Me? This is the Day of Increase!'

So, they will all give the same response: 'We are pleased, so be
pleased with us!' So, He will say: 'O People of Paradise! If I were
not pleased with you, I would not have made you inhabitants of My
Paradise! So, ask of Me!' So, they will all give the same response:
'Show us your Face so that we may look at it!' So, the Lord - Mighty
and Majestic - will remove his covering and will majestify them and
will cover them with His Light, which, if Allaah - the Exalted - had
not Willed not to burn them, would have burned them.

And there will not remain a single person in this gathering except
that his Lord - the Exalted - will speak to him and say: 'Do you
remember the day that you did this and that?' and He will remind him
of some of his bad deeds in the Worldy life, so he will say: 'O Lord!
Will you not forgive me?' So, He will say: 'Of course! You have not
reached this position of yours (in Paradise) except by my
forgiveness.'

So, how sweet is this speech to the ears, and how cooled are the
righteous eyes by the glance at His Noble Face in the Afterlife...

{Some faces that Day will be shining and radiant, looking at their Lord...} (al-Qiyaamah:22-3)

yes its true, but keep in mind that there are also more women created than men, so it would only be a normal balance for there to be more women in hell...

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad sal Allaahu alayhi waSalam said:

"I stood at the gate of Jannah, and (I saw) that the majority of those who entered it are the poor, and the wealthy were kept confined. The inmates of the Fire had been ordered to (enter) the Fire (Hell), and I stood at the gate of Hell and saw that the majority of its inmates are women".

It's sad that adults still resort to bugaboo tales. Instead of indulging in phantasmagoric scenes of the afterlife, why not do something about the horror shows in this life? You may be able to avoid the unreal tortures of the next if you do. I find these things even more horrifying than the tale that started this thread:
1. The fact that children make up most of the world's poor, homeless, malnourished, and exploited.
2. The fact that women make up the largest growing group of HIV infections- especially women under 25.
3. The fact that the US government is using vast resources to jail people, but precious little about the conditions that send them there.
4. The fact that we've only got one planet to live on, but we are steadily making it less and less habitable.
5. etc...
Now, if you have a shred of imaan, or compassion for the human race, or whatever, you will stand up, go to your checkbook, or commence to writing a letter to your representative.

bearing in mind that wasn't the explanation given by the Prophet because he still wanted the women from his Ummah to not go there in the first place! (Even though, statistically, yes that may be the case). Same goes for men.. but you get the point i guess.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas, may Allaah Almighty be pleased with him: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful." It was asked, "Do they disbelieve in Allah?" (or are they ungrateful to Allah?) He replied, "They are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favors and the good (charitable deeds) done to them. If you have always been good (benevolent) to one of them and then she sees something in you (not of her liking), she will say, 'I have never received any good from you." I recently received the following from someone who is earnestly attempting to follow the deen, but did not know how to reply in this regard. Your help would be greatly appreciated. May Allah shower you all with his infinite graces for all your service to the ummah:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I came accross this Hadith and was very disheartened:

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet said: "I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful." It was asked, "Do they disbelieve in Allah?" (or are they ungrateful to Allah?) He replied, "They are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favors and the good (charitable deeds) done to them. Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 2, Number 28

Women tolerates injustices from their husbands during the entire period of their lifetime. 99% of the wives are treated like servants. However, Islam does not give women the right to complain, or to react against the injustice of their husbands, or to show the same bad attitude to the husband as he shows. If a woman does any of this, hell fire is her destiny!!

Please comment."

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Dear Questioner,

I pray this message finds you in good health and iman.

Hadith literature is a rich and fascinating glimpse into the life of the Prophet, Allah bless him and give him peace. One of the most amazing aspects of this literature is the fact that many women shared in the transmission and preservation of the Prophet's legacy.

After all, if it weren't for the Prophet's wives, may Allah be well pleased with them, countless facets of the Prophet's life might have been lost to future generations. For those who claim that women had no stake in Islamic history, all I can say is look to the hadith and the phenomenal contributions of women like Aisha, Hafsa, and Umm Salama, may Allah be pleased with them.

You may wonder why I'm saying this. I'm saying this because you have to approach the hadith with some understanding of its context. There is an entire field of studies called Hadith Studies. Scholars, past and present, have devoted their entire lives to memorizing, understanding, classifying, authenticating, tracing, and commenting on the thousands of traditions associated with the Prophet, Allah bless him and give him peace.

Ordinary students like us have no business taking one hadith and running to the races with it. If we're confused about a hadith, then we should go to an expert and ask him or her what it means. We owe the Messenger, who is the Beloved of Allah, something called husn al-dhann, or the benefit of the doubt. If we see a hadith that looks strange to us, we put the best construction on the matter.

First, we should recognize that we may not have sufficient knowledge of the Arabic language to come to any conclusion on the hadith.

Second, we need to understand that this is one hadith in thousands. Look how many hadith there are thatspeak positively of women, and remindmen to honor women. Foremost of these hadith are the ones that deal with motherhood. For example:

Narrated Abu Huraira:

A man came to Allah's Apostle and said, "O Allah's Apostle! Who is more entitled to be treated with the best companionship by me?" The Prophet said, "Your mother." The man said. "Who is next?" The Prophet said, "Your mother." The man further said, "Who is next?" The Prophet said, "Your mother." The man asked for the fourth time, "Who is next?" The Prophet said, "Your father. "

[Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 73, Number 2]

Third, there are other hadith that indicate a plentitude of women in Paradise. For example:

Muhammad reported that some (persons) stated with a sense of pride and some discussed whether there would be more men in Paradise or more women. It was upon this that Abu Huraira reported that Abu'l Qasim (the Holy Prophet) (may peace be upon him) said: The (members) of the first group to get into Paradise would have their faces as bright as full moon during the night, and the next to this group would have their faces as bright as the shining stars in the sky, and every person would have two wives and the marrow of their shanks would glimmer beneath the flesh and there would be none without a wife in Paradise.

[Muslim, Book 040, Number 6793]

It looks like this was a topic of debate even in the early days of Islam. It's important to also keep in mind that the Qur'an frequently mentions the presence of hoor al-ain, or beautiful virgins, in Paradise. The Qur'an says, "But those who attain to faith and do righteous deeds We shall bring into gardens through which running waters flow, therein to abide beyond the count of time; there shall they have spouses pure: and [thus] We shall bring them unto happiness abounding." [Al-Nisa, 4:57]

This verse is a very clear statement on the spiritual parity between men and women. Both believing men and women are promised a peaceful abode in Paradise with loving spouses.

Once again, there is no indication that women are excluded from Paradise and its rewards.

Fourth, even if we take the hadith at its literal meaning, is it really an issue? Since we're all supposed to be striving for Paradise anyway, we should welcome the hadith as advice on how not to act.

In other words, the Prophet, Allah bless him and give him peace, may have seen certain behavior from the women of his community. Out of love and concern, he warned them that these behaviors would lead to Hell rather than Paradise. This hadith is telling us how serious ingratitude is. And it's a warning to both sexes.

The scholars frequently explain that hadiths like these can apply to both sexes. Of course, there are ungrateful husbands. That goes without saying. And of course many women have suffered at their husbands' hands.

However, this hadith is addressing situations where women are in the wrong. We have to be honest. A lot of women do take their husbands for granted. We should be grateful that the Prophet, Allah bless him and give him peace, warned us of the consequences of such unbecoming behavior.

Last but not least, this hadith is not saying that any woman who complains is going to Hell. This hadith addresses a very specific behavior. Women certainly have the right to voice their grievances.

Isn't there an entire chapter of the Qur'an called al-Mujadilah? This surah is the 58th chapter in the Qur'an and it is devoted to the story of a woman who came to the Prophet, Allah bless him and give him peace, and complained about her husband.

The Prophet did not tell this woman that she was going to Hell. Instead, he listened to her, and Allah Most High revealed verses directly addressing this woman's situation and condemning the husband for his unacceptable behavior.

I pray that Allah Most High helps your friend to find peace in this beautiful way of life that has enriched and inspired the lives of countless women.

And Allah knows best.

Now, if you have a shred of imaan, or compassion for the human race, or whatever, you will stand up, go to your checkbook, or commence to writing a letter to your representative.
Bless you for that post, sister!

It has really touched me. Food for thought ... and time for action!

Blessings.
