I would love to learn about Islamic culture and tradition. I love learnign about history.

Could anyone give me any info about how Islam was started and some of the main rules, and other things.

I have some Muslim friends but we never talk religion because it could lead to argument, so I would love to learn more about my friends heritage. Thanks in advance.

Hi manchester
Welcome to this Forum.
It's hard to refer you to a single site or Book. Basicly any book that explains history, culture and tradition will most likely talk about the religion itself and vice versa. The hadeeth for example are a great source of history. They are qoutes the prophet (peace be upon him) has made. and the compilation books show hadeeths that have been checked for uathenticity with a simular criteria as done in secular historical research. the Qur'an itself is also still in it's origenal state. In other words, most religious books aproach history with the right framework. And if you have any specific questions, we would of course be happy to answer them for you inshallah, you can use this existing thread if you please.

Here's a good startingpoint explaining the important events out of the life of the prophet (pbuh)

enyoy the reading :)
