From what I've heard, dentistry isn't so bad. Even though it is a 5-year course like medicine, it is quicker to get a job since you do not need to specialise and train for as long after you graduate. The course structure (maybe depending on which University you go to) might also be more interesting than medicine, because I think dental students begin meeting patients and get involved in more practical aspects earlier on in the course.
It could depend on where you are studying I guess, because different institutions may have varying standards of education.
