i found out recently my college actually has HALAL meat and chicken! And the college is over 95% non-muslims and only 1 muslim teacher! I was like :omg: :omg: :omg: when i found out...apparently, they do this coz it's cheaper to buy halal meat...of course pork/sausages r haram obviously

so ur school/college/uni/workplace serves halal food?

Assalamu alaikum,

Bro thats pretty amazing, our uni doesn't serve halal food, and this is one of the issues us muslim students are tackling. I'll be bringing it up at the next guild council meeting, and i'll be trying my best to get it implemented for next semester when the new first years come. I'm sick of having cheese sandwiches for lunch!

Assalamu alaikum,

Bro abdul is right, my local Asda sells halal meat and chicken. It's really convenient but we also go to the halal butchers to show our support for muslim businesses. Plus i secretly think the chicken is nicer from the butchers....its much more fresh!

Anyone have any advice on things i could say at the guild council meeting to push the "halal food on campus" motion?

Jazakumu Allahu Khair

Mashallah that is good news people are starting to realise more and more about Halal and the need to cater ofr muslims - another good example is the Islamic Finance!

Assalamu alaikum,

Yep i am a guild rep so it shouldn't be too hard. There are a few other muslims on coucil who are obviously gonna back me up. I think i'll also push the "kosher food" for the JSOC aswell so that we can get a large number of people onside. Plus the muslim and jewish students make up a large proportion of students so collectively we should be able to win it. Then there are the socialists who pretty much back us in anything we do....so insha'Allah it'll be do-able.

Oh...but it is...u see, I think its Bradford Uni who managed to have that motion passed at their guild council. They've set a precedent, and i'm going to pursue it until i leave uni if i have to.

islamic school, serves halal obviously you know occasionally we have barbecues at like last days of school days, its really wicked, tandoori chicken and barbecued meat and vegetables and all the students contribute its really wicked. But hey there is a really good side to not being served halal food, you would eat healthier, as in vegetables, they might taste like soil but they are good for you.

my ex-highschool :( used to serve a mixture of halaal food and haraam food.
90% were muslims so i guess it was only logical to serve halaal food :thumbs_up
