Q.) It is said that recitation of Qur'an and prayers are not allowed during "Zawal" time. What is this and how can one determine this period?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A.) It is prohibited to perform any Salat, Fardh or Nafl during Zawal. It is not prohibited to recite Qur'an during Zawal.

Zawal is when the sun reaches its zenith (midway point). The period of Zawal lasts until the sun commences its decline towards the west. There is no standard period of Zawal. It differs from place to place depending on the geographical location. And Allah Ta'ala Knows Best
