Here i start,
how to say: Good Morning in arabic
Sabah - morning
Al khair - good
Sabah - morning
Al noor - bloom , blossom , light
When someone says good morning to you (and khair is a very very nice word to use), then you answer back w/ Sabah Al noor, which is kinda like bright or light morning (ya no noor is also a nice word to use in Arabic). Did that make sense at all????
But you can answer back w/ :
Sabah Al ful
Sabah Al khair
Sabah Al Ward
Sabah Al halaweh
If you wake up late, and u find ur mom cooking ,you can say:
Sabah Al Pasta!
Sabah Al Molokheyya
Sabah (wutever she's cookin )
If you wake up, and something smells nice, you can say:
Sabah Al reeha Al helwa (good smell)
Sabah Al o'tur
If you wake up, and kids around you, makin a mess in your room, you can say:
GET OUT!!!!!!!
If you wake up in the jungle, you can say:
HELP!

I just have one comment, is that in Arabic we have different slangs according to the area so in Egypt its different than in Syria and Jordan which is again different than the gulf area, I noticed that the Syrian / Jordian (or what we call Shamy) slang in the one mostly used overhere
E.G wha brother zak hv asked..

Well dear bro,,it means YES..
Coz Saudi Arabia use Golf slangs
Aiwa= Yes = in English
although is suppost 2 be Na'm... (Nacaam in somali)
then it will be
Haa = in somali...
Sii = in Spanish
Jii = In Indian
and Aaa Haa in my lil cousin baby language ( well i think)

Here i start,
how to say: Good Morning in arabic
Sabah - morning
Al khair - good
Sabah - morning
Al noor - bloom , blossom , light
When someone says good morning to you (and khair is a very very nice word to use), then you answer back w/ Sabah Al noor, which is kinda like bright or light morning (ya no noor is also a nice word to use in Arabic). Did that make sense at all????
But you can answer back w/ :
Sabah Al ful
Sabah Al khair
Sabah Al Ward
Sabah Al halaweh
Kheir actually has soo many meanings..check'em out ....
خَيْر
ثَرْوَة
*treasure , wealth , capital , riches , opulence , pelf , abundance , affluence , fortune
رَخاء , رَفَاهِيَة
*wealth , affluence , welfare , ease and comfort , luxury , opulence , ease , abundance , comfort , weal , prosperity
نِعْمَة
*grace , affluence , comfort , good
نَفْع , مَصْلَحَة
*feasibility , yield , practicability , welfare , gain , good , advantage
خَيْر
*good
المـــصــــــدر ضِدّ شَرّ , بِرّ
As i said, it can mean a blessing, but not really when you're saying Sabah Al khair! But when you're saying good morning in Arabic, and you mean to say Blessed morning, then barak Allah fiki .
Sabah Al noor doesn't really mean blessed day either . As i said, blessing means khair, but noor means light, and Sabah means morning. So it's really bright morning, or something like that, but not blessed day .
Talking about greetings, here are some that might be useful sometimes..
Good evening - Masa' Al kheir
Good night - Tusbehoon Ala Kheir
With my greetings/ compliments - Ma' Taheyatee
With love - ma' hubbi
Sincerely - Bi Ikhlas
Hey!!! - Marhaba
Ok..I can't remember the other ones

أحدى أخواتنا المسلمات
I don't have the words to describe your work... axsanti wallah!!!
Arabic is like the only tool you need to understand religion. So as Muslims it is really a MUST. I can not imagine how can you enjoy the prayers or quran without understanding what it says. and trust me, all those translations can Never convey the meaning of quran exactly (although they are doing great job there).
And it is never hard. it is just like learning any of the other languages. maybe one problem is the fact you have many accents and none of these accents represent the real Arabic "al-fushaa" but still you have a rich culture and many books and material that can help you learn Arabic. Online if you do a google search you will find many software with vision and sound that are helping you to start learning.
I am sure each second you spend in learning Arabic will be counted for you as xasanah insha allah...so look at it as an entertaining way to worship Allah..
again 1_Of_Ur_Siss_In_Islam...baraaka allahu fiiki... you have done it in a nice funny way...I couldn't do like you did!!! keep it up and dee I am here to help ...

1_Of_Ur_Siss_In_Islam I have a Q for you: dee I am one da students :)
can you tell me da rules in writing arabic in the <latain alphabet mode> ?...i guess we can use da somali mode regarding c,kh and q ...what about da others?
anyways...brother mujahid, well done mate!! never knew you can speak somali!!!
farah... see? The arabic thing is so easy... you can learn more than a phrase a day ...try saying these pharases... they are used in everyday life:
Note: - writen in somali mode
- for each example you have both in formal slang
- for each example, the words with same color mean da same
- underline word means it has no equvilant in the other language ( complicated grammer rules)
- when you see a "\" that mean you will have male and then female usage
EXAMPLE.1
*********************************************
English: The weather Todayis Beautiful
formal: al-jaw jamiil al-yoom
slang: al-jaw mara xiluu al-yoom
********************************************
EXAMPLE.2
********************************************
English: Are you thirsty ?
formal: Hal anta\anti cadshaan\cadshaanAH ?
slang: cadshaan?\cadshaanAH?
********************************************
EXAMPLE.3
********************************************
English: lets buy a drink... lets go
formal dacna nashtary sharaaban ...Haya na-th'hab
slang kahliina nishraty sharaab...yala bina
- remmember as explained before by our sister:
nashatary=(we) buy,
yashtary= (he) buyes
tashtary= (she)buyes
yashraroon = (they +2) buy
yashtarayaan= (they -2 persons-) buy
-here "lets go"="yala bina" but there is no word to word match!!
********************************************

All praises are due to Allah. We praise Him. We seek His help. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of our souls and our sinful deeds. For whoever Allah guides, there is none to misguide him. For whoever Allah sends astray, there is none to guide him. We bear witness that there is no God except Allah, the One, who has no partner. And we bear witness that Mohammad is His servant and messenger (the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

Hmm.. i think in order for people to understand wordss in the Quran ..they need to learn SIRF ( very Enjoyable Subject ?? )
I.E. :
they might know the word AKALA ( to eat) but they wudnt know wrds such as
Akalaa
Akalat
Akaltu
Akalnaa
or
Ya'kulu
a'akalu
na'kalu
ta'kaleena
and we may find this types of wrds in the Quran ..
So any1 Experienced SIRF .. might wanna share it out herre

:D Let's use the Fa-'A-La (to do) system, which is used as the standard system for teaching nowadays:
Firstly there are 56 grammatical forms in Arabic Grammar and in each one there are eight subs, and in each sub there are word-lists. e.g.
Roots:
1. Fa-'A-La : Tri-Root (3 letter)
2. Fa''A-La : Second form
3. Faa-'A-La : Third form
4. Af-'A-La : Fourth form . . . And so on. It goes on into 56 forms likewise.
Translations:
1. To do
2. To do alot, to make (someone) do, to accuse (someone) of doing
3. To do with (proactivity form)
4. To do best / most / of highest rank
Examples:
1. To learn
2. To teach
3. To fight
4. To elect
:shade: Anyway I can't write up a book of Arabic grammar onto this forum or something, so I think that should do for now Insha-Allah I'll write up some more stuff that might help . . . :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p ;)

lol. SIRFFF . like i said .. NOT Intersting .. but i think Root wrds shud b tought later on we dnt wana make the BEGINNBERS confused n bored .. we cud start off with the GARDAANS (chart ) for the MAAZI ( past) with the translation .. like there are 14 words in a column .. we might put up 3 each day ..we shud concentrate on MAAZI (past) ?

PAST TENSE ( MAAZI - arabic term for past
)
THERE ARE 14 columns and throughout we will use the word FA'ALA which means TO DO
FA'ALA - That one man did it
FA'ALAA - Those two men did it
( notice we have added an "Alif" to FA'ALA to make it DUAL so it wud be FA'ALAA)
FA'ALOO - All those men did it
( waw added)
we can use other wrds tooo.. like i mention above AKALA (to eat )
so if we want to say THAT ONE MAN ATE
we simply say
AKALA ( lol thats all .. only one word .. from this we know its talkin about
THAT ONE MAN ( meaning the man who is
not Present in front of us n we r talkin abt him)
AKALAA ( those 2 men ate )
AKALOO ( all those men ate )
SUbhanAllah.. the Arabic wrds are soo smalll .. n in english we take up 10 wrds to say a sentence whereas in arabic only 2 words will b enough to make a sentence :D
* dnt mean to make any1 confused ..any1 dnt understand .. dnt hesitate to ask, i tried to put it as simple as possible*
:w:

:D I think it would be nice "dual" (two things) type practice if one is to refer to the very last Hadith in Bukhari:
حدثنا أحمد بن إشكاب: حدثنا محمد بن فضيل، عن عمارة بن القعقاع، عن أبي زرعة، عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال:
قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: (كلمتان حبيبتان إلى الرحمن، خفيفتان على اللسان، ثقيلتان في الميزان: سبحان الله وبحمده، سبحان الله العظيم

my Favourite Hadeeth ...
here the wrds are DUAL coz theres " alif " and "nun" at the end of the words .. so we know its dual..
kalima - means words
KALIMATAANEE - WORDS ( dual)
HABIB - beloved
HABIBATAANEE - BELOVED (dual)
* NOTE: in arabic the describing word has to be the same as the adjective .. i.e. HABIB (beloved) is decribing word .. and its describing the KALIMAH ,,so if KALIMATAANEE is dual then the DESCRIBING word will be DUAL too *
ILA - towards
RAHMAN - MERCIFUL
KHAFIFA - LIGHT as in Weight
KHAFIFATAANEE - LIGHT ( dual... (why dual?) .. becz its describing the kalimataanee -words)
ALA - ON
LISAAN - TONGUE
Thakila - heavy
THAKILATANEE - ( heavy dual .. again its describing the Kalimatanee so describing wrd gotta have the same pattern too )
FEE - IN
MIZAAN - scale
so any1 clever enough to translate that aRabic phrase?
* the ones who know arabic Strictly not allowed to translate*

In the name of Allah, the compassionate, the merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds.
The compassionate, the merciful.
Master of Judgement Day.
You alone we worship, and to You alone we pray for help.
Guide us to the straight path.
The path of those whom You have favoured.
Not of those who have incurred Your wrath, nor of those who have gone astray.

Let's try some speaking, and phrses:
Phrse one: fa ayna tath-haboon; which can also be written as fa ayna taz-haboon.
Translation would be: so where are you (people, because it's plural) going? or: where do you go? or: where will you go, it purely depends on the context, whereas, if you say: ayna anta (anti for female) thaahib (or zaahib, because its with thal (zal), not tha (sa). This would mean: where are you (singular) going?

A) Darul baladiyah is: town hall / town centre
B) You got B right . . . Very good :applaud:
C) Very good, but mud would have been a more appropriate word to use I think, because dust is too dry to use for washing . . .
:D Translate the phrase below:
"anna zaidun kareemin" ;D ;)

I'll explain it word-by-word: :shade:
"anna" is: to groan / to wimper :omg:
"Zaid" is: active participle of the action; comfirmed by "un" at the end :p
"ka" is: like; that's why the last bit is "reemin" and not "reeman" and zaid is "zaidun" and not "zaidan" ;D
"reem" is: a wild gazelle :p ;)
