A woman was waiting at the airport one night
With several long hours before her flight
She hunted for a book in the airport shop
Bought a bag of cookies and found a place to drop

She was engrossed in her book, but happened to see
That the man beside her, as bold as could be
Grabbed a cookie or two from the bag between
Which she tried to ignore to avoid a scene

She read, munched cookies, and watched the clock
As the "ghastly cookie thief" diminished her stock
She was getting more irritated as the minutes ticked by
Thinking, "If I wasn't so nice, I'd blacken his eye!"

With each cookie she took, he took one too
When only one was left, she wondered what he'd do
With a smile on his face and a nervous laugh
He took the last cookie and broke it in half

He offered her half, and he ate the other
She snatched it from him and thought, "Oh brother,
This guy has some nerve, and he's also so rude
Why, he didn't even show any gratitude!"

She had never known when she had been so galled
And sighed with relief when her flight was called
She gathered her belongings and headed for the gate
Refusing to look at the "thieving ingrate"

She boarded the plane and sank in her seat
Then sought her book, which was almost complete
As she reached in her baggage, she gasped with surprise
There was her bag of cookies in front of her eyes!

"If mine are here," she moaned with despair
"Then the others were his and he tried to share!"
Too late to apologize, she realized with grief
That she was the rude one, the ingrate, the thief!:ooh:

Think Twice

One night there was a woman at the airport who had to wait for several hours before catching her next flight. While she waited she bought a book and a pack of biscuits to spend the time. She looked for a place to sit and wait.

She was deep into her book, when suddenly she realized that there was a young man sitting next to her who was stretching his hand, with no concern whatsoever, and grabbing the pack of cookies lying between them. He started to eat them one by one.

Not wanting to make a fuss about it she decided to ignore him. The woman, slightly bothered, ate the cookies and watched the clock, while the young and shameless thief of biscuits was also finishing them. The woman started to get really angry at this point and thought "If I wasn't such a good and educated person, I would have given this daring man a black eye by now."

Every time she ate a biscuit, he had one too. The dialogue between their eyes continued and when only one biscuit was left, she wondered what was he going to do. Softly and with a nervous smile, the young man grabbed the last biscuit and broke it in two. He offered one half to the woman while he ate the other half.

Briskly she took the biscuit and thought, "What an insolent man! How uneducated! He didn't even thank me!" She had never met anybody so fresh and sighed relieved to hear her flight announced. She grabbed her bags and went towards the boarding gate refusing to look back to where that insolent thief was seated.

After boarding the plane and nicely seated, she looked for her book which was nearly finished by now. While looking into her bag she was totally surprised to find her pack of biscuits nearly intact. "If my biscuits are here", she thought feeling terribly, "those others were his and he tried to share them with me." Too late to apologize to the young man, she realized with pain, that it was her who had been insolent, uneducated and a thief, and not him.

How many times in our lives, had we know with certainty that something happened in a certain way, only to discover later that it wasn't true?

How many times has our lack of trust within us made us judge other people unfairly with our conceited ideas, often far away from reality.

Abdullah bin Abbas (radi Allahu anhu) reported that the Prophet(sallAllahu alaiyhi wassallam) said:
Do not be envious of one another; do not artificially inflate prices against one another; do not hate one another; do not shun one another; and do not undercut one another in business transactions; and be as fellow-brothers and servants of Allah. A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim. He neither oppresses him nor humiliates him nor looks down upon him. Piety is here - and he pointed to his chest three times. It is evil enough for a Muslim to hold his brother Muslim in contempt. All things of a Muslim are inviolable for another Muslim: his blood, his property and his honour. [Muslim, Imam An-Nawawi's 40 hadith]

Change Your Point of View

Imagine you're at Sydney International Airport. While you're waiting for
your flight, you notice a kiosk selling shortbread cookies. You buy a box, put
them in your travelling bag and then you patiently search for an available seat so
you can sit down and enjoy your cookies. Finally you find a seat next to a gentleman.

You reach down into your travelling bag and pull out your box of shortbread cookies.
As you do so, you notice that the gentleman starts watching you intensely.
He stares as you open the box and his eyes follow your hand as you pick up
the cookie and bring it to your mouth. Just then he reaches over and takes
one of your cookies from the box, and eats it! You're more than a little
surprised at this. Actually, you're at a loss for words. Not only does he
take one cookie, but he alternates with you. For every one cookie you take,
he takes one.

Now, what's your immediate impression of this guy?

Crazy? Greedy? He's got some nerve?!

Can you imagine the words you might use to describe this man to your
associates back at the office? Meanwhile, you both continue eating the
cookies until there's just one left. To your surprise, the man reaches over
and takes it. But then he does something unexpected. He breaks it in half,
and gives half to you. After he's finished with his half he gets up, and
without a word, he leaves.

You think to yourself, "Did this really happen?" You're left sitting there
dumbfounded and still hungry. So you go back to the kiosk and buy another
box of cookies. You then return to your seat and begin opening your new box
of cookies when you glance down into your travelling bag. Sitting there in
your bag is your original box of bookies -- still unopened.

Only then do you realize that when you reached down earlier, you had
reached into the other man's bag, and grabbed his box of cookies by mistake.

Now what do you think of the man?
Generous? Tolerant?

You've just experienced a profound paradigm shift. You're seeing things from a
new point of view. Is it time to change your point of view?

Now, think of this story as it relates to your life . Seeing things from
a new point of view can be very enlightening. Think outside the box.
Don't settle for the status quo. Be open to suggestions. Things may not be
what they seem

Maashaa-Allaah, a very good post and well said. There have been incidents like that, though not as spectacular as the example given above, that have happened to me. Well, Islam does teach us to have husn aZ-Zann (good 'opinion'/thoughts) with/of our fellow humans...

In the beginning i thought he woulda been eating my cookies, but i laughed, sometimes people are funny that way.....shocked yes, but i thought it was amusing, he seems really freindly...

I have written before about this exact story and can again without any offence meant and nor will he take any but compliment:

the man in the story could easily have been my own father!

the story is simply a challenge to the ways in which we esteem ourself,

and in which both men demonstrate amply Human tolerance,

but leaving you only to wonder what exactly is their account against each other,

whom will hold whom to account in aquittal for what?

It is also just like my father to leave no trace of doubt in your mind that you know him not!

A young lady was waiting for her flight in the boarding room of a big airport.

As she would need to wait many hours, she decided to buy a book to spend her time. She also bought a packet of cookies.

She sat down in an armchair, in the VIP room of the airport, to rest and read in peace.

Beside the armchair where the packet of cookies lay, a man sat down in the next seat, opened his magazine and started reading.

When she took out the first cookie, the man took one also.
She felt irritated but said nothing. She just thought:
“What a nerve! If I was in the mood I would punch him for daring!”

For each cookie she took, the man took one too.
This was infuriating her but she didn’t want to cause a scene.

When only one cookie remained, she thought: “ah... What this abusive man do now?”
Then, the man, taking the last cookie, divided it into half, giving her one half.

Ah! That was too much! She was much too angry now!

In a huff, she took her book, her things and stormed to the boarding place.

When she sat down in her seat, inside the plane, she looked into her purse to take her eyeglasses, and, to her surprise, her packet of cookies was there, untouched, unopened!

She felt so ashamed!! She realized that she was wrong...
She had forgotten that her cookies were kept in her purse.

The man had divided his cookies with her, without feeling angered or bitter.

...while she had been very angry, thinking that she was dividing her cookies with him.

And now there was no chance to explain herself...nor to apologize.”

There are 4 things that you cannot recover.

The stone...

...after the throw!

The word...

...after it’s said!

The occasion...

... after the loss!

The time...

...after it’s gone!

eh... the man probably just shrugged his shoulder and thought her a nut with a bad case of the munchies... on some level he should be grateful he isn't incurring the wrath of all those calories alone--so she has in fact done him a favor... Instead of 8 grams of fat 40 grams of inverted sugars which eventually will be stored as fat and the negligible protein and minerals so he is in fact hungry again after half an hour, he gets 4 grams of fat and 20 of the crappy inverted sugar... that woman should remain seated and be grateful she has an extra packet of cookies so she won't eat the nasty on flight food... especially is she were flying virgin Atlantic... in the end it all worked out

p.s: lesson learned... I just don't like stories that leave me with a bad feeling so I make my own alternate ending-- hope that is aight?
