Serbia’s war crimes prosecutor launched an investigation into the killing of 700 Bosnian Muslims by Bosnian Serb paramilitaries during the 1992-95 war, the prosecutor's office said on Wednesday, according to Reuters.
The two men named in the indictment -- Bosnian Serb Branko Grujic, 62, and Serb Branko Popovic, 57 -- are already on trial along with five other former Bosnian Serb military officials on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity for detaining, abusing and murdering Muslim civilians in the Zvornik area, near Bosnia's border with Serbia.
Prosecutor spokesman Bruno Vekaric said the men, commanders of local "territorial defense units", are accused of having ordered the murders of 700 Muslim villagers in the area in June 1992.
"Some of those killings were extremely brutal," Vekaric said.
"Twenty people died of suffocation because they were crowded in a very small room and heating was put on maximum,” he added.
The bodies of those killed were buried in different locations to cover up the crime, the prosecutor’s office said, adding that evidence for the case would come from at least 200 bodies exhumed so far.
The prosecutor also said regional cooperation would be very important in order to arrest a number of other suspects, believed to be in Bosnia.
The investigation of major atrocities committed during the wars that ravaged the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s is being handled by the United Nations war crimes tribunal in The Hague, but courts in Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia are increasingly taking over.
One of the major war crimes that took place in the region is the 1995 Srebrenica m***acre, in which more than 8,000 Muslims were murdered, making it the worst m*** killing in Europe since World War Two.

May those murderers get the worst of punishment in the Hereafter, inshallah.
I am awaiting the day when justice will be done.
