Asslamu Alikum wa Rahamtu allah wa Barkatu,

Here is something I read and would like to discuss with you all:

Ahmad von Denffor elaborates:

The interpretation of the Qur'an by the Qur'an is the highest source of tafsir. Many of the questions which may arise out of certain passage of the Qur'an have their explanation in other parts of the very same book, and often there is a no need to turn to any sources other than the word of Allah, which in itself contains tafsir. To seek to explain an aya from the Qur'an by referring to another aya from the Qur'an is the first and foremost duty of the mufassir. Only if this does not suffice, he will refer to other sources of tafsir.
Ulum Al- Qur'an

So what do you think?

What is your favourite tafsir(s) and why?

How can one approach a grammatical issue in Qur'an through tafsirs?

Will be waiting for your replies

:D Different Tafsirs vary in different ways; one tafsir maybe better in one way, and another in another way. People written tafsirs of the Quran; via help of Ahadeeth and recognised things with some differences in interpretation . . .

personally i like Ibn Kathir, its very detailed... and there's alot of interesting stories, and he thoroughly annotates them with how authentic they are... i don't really like the abridged versions though, the original version is the best.
