This might be more plausable if the terror plot wasn't uncovered by the British. Plus, what reason does Bush need to worry about poll numbers? He can't seek re-election, so poll numbers are just that, numbers. As for not raising the terror threat level, I believe that was due to the cynicism involved with the color coded system. If Bush had raised the level, his political opponents would still be hollering about some conspiracy to raise his poll numbers, so I don't see the point of that. Could it possibly be, just maybe, that there was actually a plot to blow up planes from the U.K headed to the U.S.???? No, what a crazy idea...terrorsts would never hijack a plane..
