Has anyone tried or takes sleeping pills like Lunesta or Ambien? I am supposed to start taking them, but just wanted to know how well they work. I was put on mild tranquilizers, but they made me hyper at first and dizzy the next day to the point where I couldn't open my eyes without out passing out. Any advice would help!

Well I have heard you can get addicted to them and if you take them for long time you won't be able to sleep until you've had the sleeping tablets.

Ambien and Lunesta are a new class of sleeping meds that are non-habit forming.

I been reading up on it and these sleeping pills and the side effects sound quite bad including sleepwalking and short-term amnesia..views of people who have taken Ambien and Lunesta

How bad is your sleep?? If you are going to take them you should leave it as a last last resort.

Trust me, it's definitely a last resort. The only other thing that speeds up how fast I fall asleep is sleeping on the couch with the TV on.

Herbals don't work, lectures don't work. Classical music does, but we aren't supposed to listen to it. I am going to try a nature CD, so inshaAllah that works.

There is iktilaaf on the issue of music - and if it really does help you go to sleep then it may be permissable - especially when compared to taking drugs that may harm you. Seek a fatwa from a shiekh or imam.
