Would you like some tea?--tumi ki cha khabe?
Are you hungry?--tomar ki khida legeche?
Phone me!--Phone koro amake!
If your friend's sylheti then maybe a syhleti bro/sis can translate it for you.

Well I rehearsed & rehearsed saying "Tumi saa sow ni?" Mind you it did sound a bit like I was singing. So when my friend finally came I eagerly asked, "Tumi saa sow ni?" to which my friend replied, "Whaaat?????"
I went, "Tuumiiii - saaaaa - sowwww - niiiiiiii?" She went, "HUH?" I went, "Nevermind.... I'm gonna kill a few people on LI!"
What went wrong??? :-\

salam,
can I ask, did you pronounce the word 'sow' rhyming with the word 'how', or with the word 'low' ?
the correct pronounciation is the one rhyming with 'how'.

yes, I rhymed it with 'how'. When she didn't understand the first time, I also changed 'saa' to 'chaa' (word for tea in punjabi) she still didn't understand and thought I was asking her how she is lol.
