America now is Germany then: Analogies

The German people of the late 1930s imagined themselves to be brave. They saw themselves as the heroic Germans depicted by the Wagnerian Operas, the descendants of the fierce Germanic warriors who had hunted wild boar with nothing but spears and who had defeated three of Rome's mightiest legions in the Tuetenberg Forest.

But in truth, by the 1930s, the German people had become civilized and tamed, culturally obsessed with fine details in both science and society. Their self-image of bravery was both salve and slavery. Germans were required to behave as if they were brave, even when they were not.

Hello and Salam

Seems to be quite true. The only difference perhaps is that the USA did its imperialist internal expansionism long before Nazi Germany attempted to do so, and now they are going for further adventure...

The only difference
You need to read a little history.

Hello and Salam,

What I meant to say was that if anything, the United States specially under this current administration is more dangerous to the world than Hitler's Nazi Germany... The mericans really do not have any space left to add to their country (pretty much added everything they could), so now the rest of the world is their playground for experiments :giggling:

We have to kill several hundred million more to be half as dangerous. The US has done much to deserve condemnation, but exudations as this can only be classified as lies. Speak the truth, and I will join you in your condemnation.

I am sure they are preparing for this... Remember that when the Nazis first came to power, they had not killed "several hundred million people" either.

One big difference is America is a nation of immigrants. With the exception of the remaining native Americans no American has a family tree much over 300 years. The majority of us seem to have a family tree of Americans going back only 2 or 3 generations. We are very homogeneous and the concept of an "American" super race in inconceivable. We differ too much to unite 100% along those lines. Our countries attitudes change almost generation to generation as each culture becomes the majority culture. Today it may seem that We are white Angl-Saxon Protestants, yet our Hispanic population is making tremendous gains. It is very possible in the near future the average
american is going to be brown hispanic Roman Catholic.

Our American make up is always changing, yet in many areas it stays the same. It is interesting to note where most of todays immigrants are coming from. Tomorrow they are the ones who will shape what the world sees as American. I would suspect that the majority of those reading this have at least one relative in the USA

The story of the American people is a story of immigration and diversity. The United States has welcomed more immigrants than any other country -- more than 50 million in all -- and still admits almost 700,000 persons a year. In the past many American writers emphasized the idea of the melting pot, an image that suggested newcomers would discard their old customs and adopt American ways. Typically, for example, the children of immigrants learned English but not their parents' first language. Recently, however, Americans have placed greater value on diversity, ethnic groups have renewed and celebrated their heritage, and the children of immigrants often grow up being bilingual.

I'm afraid that's an unfair question. It is also a sweeping statement, asking if 'Americans' (i.e. every single US citizen) are as dangerous as the Nazis. And I hate sweeping statements. :)
