From what i've been hearing from brothers at my mosque is that they use them to gain sympathy knowing muslims will be giving sadaqa, the problem is these people might not even need the money but are doing it out of greed.

They're obviously scammers. Tell your imam. If they still don't go away, tell them you'll call the police as they're trespassing.

I've seen them outside at least one mosque after Jumah. If these rackets are anything like the ones in Pakistan, those women begging will probably get a pittance compared to what the ringleader will receive.

You should have called the police. Or at least threatened to.

That's horrible! Some people will stop at nothing! :(
Good thing your mum was around!

As for the thread title, I am almost relieved! I assumed the thread was about gangs hanging around outside mosques to pick fights or cause trouble!

I suppose in some ways it's a good sign - it means the people are recognising Muslims as charitable, helpful members of society. Now that's got to be a good thing!! :)

Peace

It is a good thing, but it sucks when people exploit it.

True!
But then good and charitable people will always be the target of greedy people. Comes with the territory, I guess.

Something just occured to me - maybe we should watch ourselves on this thread before we stray into idle gossip or backbiting.
