CNN just reported that the Iranian president will come to the UN on September 19, the same day G. Bush will be in Sweden?? He wanted to debate with Bush, but will instead do some diplomatic work in the UN.

Any thoughts?

To be honest I don't know enough about the man to form an opinion, though I do think if Harvard invited him then they should front the cost of protecting him if it's going to be that hefty of a price. Why should all of the taxpayers bear this burden when we didn't even have a say in whether he is invited or not.

And I mean that for anyone...if it were Putin I'd say the same thing. But that's just me.

Why would there be an assassination? The U.S. isn't in the business of assassinations, especially on American soil. Unless you mean some random guy decides to kill the Iranian president, which is possible I guess. However, I doubt he would be in any position for a walk-up style assassination attempt that nearly killed Reagan. The Secret Service takes mega-precautions these days.

actually, the Supreme Leader of Iran is already here. I saw him answering questions at some type of conference yesterday, it was on one of those boring TV channels, but it was on and i was listening, and he did great, answered every question and gave more than just a regular responce, going into detail and everything.

Also, if Bush was to come to Tehran... they would definately have to give him protection... This would be a great thing since maybe Ahmadinejad would be able to dialog with him and knock some sense into him.
