At Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) Amritsar, October 24

History of sorts would be created in the world of music when legendry ghazal singer of Pakistan, Ghulam Ali, and hazoori raagi, Bhai Nirmal Singh, would cut a joint album of shabad kirtan to mark the golden jubilee celebrations of singing of the former.

This would be the first-ever joint album of the 'ustad-shagirad' (teacher-disciple) duo even as Bhai Nirmal Singh considers Ghulam Ali his teacher in the field of music. No other hazoori raagi has ever sung Gurbani with the ghazal maestro so far.

Talking to TNS here today, Ghulam Ali said golden jubilee of his singing was being celebrated in Pakistan and other countries by holding grand functions. He said though he had produced more than 200 CDs, yet joint cassette with his 'disciple' would be a unique experiment in the field of classic music.

Anyone else a fan of his ghazals?

Yes, he's muslim surprised you've not heard of him!

Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan sang some too, and it's great.

1 - Mitar Pyare Noon
2 - Awwal Allah Noor Upaya
3 - Turiya Turiya Ja Farida
4 - Koi Bole Ram Ram

Well Gurbani means verses from the Guru Granth Sahib Ji. So it'll be various Shabad all in the praise of the Almighty. Once they've issued the selction i'll post them up :)

Greetings,

LI forum is very pleased to be having interfaith discussions with our members. However, we do not approve of discussions regarding Muslims who practise un-Islamic behaviour and may depict an incorrect representation of Muslims; in this context, it is the issue of singing which goes beyond any such allowances in Islam.

Furthermore, there is an element of promoting other faiths than Islam here, and with all due respect, we would prefer such threads be reserved for elsewhere on the internet.

We thank you for your support and cooperation with us,

LI-Staff :).

P.S. To answer your question, 'Astaghfirullah' means 'I seek forgiveness from Allaah', and is generally used when we see something that may displease Allaah.
