Great pics, Janaan! :)

It's good to know that Muslims do some mad last-minute-shopping before Ramadan, just as Christians do before Christmas. :D
Perhaps it's all part of the pre-festival excitement and preparation?

RAMADHAN BAZAAR IN MALAYSIA

During Ramadhan, lots of Ramadhan Bazaar opened all over Malaysia with mouth-watering delicacies. I've taken this pic from www.jeffooi.com

Average Ramadhan Bazaar in Malaysia....

Buying the "Ketupat" (Steamed rice)

Chicken wings with honey

Ayam Percik (a chicken grilled in Kelantanese style - p/s: Syilla is a Kelantanese...)

Roti Jala (a string like pancake, to be eaten with curry)

Ikan Bakar (Grilled fish wrapped in banana leaves)

Ayam Panggang (Roasted chicken)

That's it! I want to live in Malaysia when I'm older! If it isn't flooded by sea-level rise that is. But quite a lot of the country is high, so it's quite safe, with the exception of the maor cities.

I doubt China would take over an MEDC country like Malaysia. They are currently after the LEDC countries of central Asia, in east Uzbekistan they force Muslims to change their names to Chinese ones and ban them from practicing Islam properly.

In my mind, there is nothing wrong with immigration unless there actually is a malicious attempt to do a 'demographic takeover'. After all, if it had not been for the massive immigration from the subcontinent, it would have been really difficult for me to embrace Islam. Immigration also enhances the economic productivity and cultural flavour of a country, so let them all in I say!

And more Chinese in Malaysia means more potential Muslims. It's pretty hard to convert to any faith in communist China.

^ That's a valid point you gave there Fishman, and I hope you didn't misunderstand my words to think that I have anything against the Chinese, no.
What I actually meant is that the way Chinese play so many major roles in Malaysia is frightening, simply because they show such opposition towards Islam. The way they insult Islam openly and without any fear is quite worrisome. That's all I meant.

Actually 60% of Malaysia are highlands.... my family bought land and house some 40 km away in mainland .... in case Penang will sink...:giggling:

Maybe you should apply for International Islamic University Malaysia... study there for 4 years and then decide whether to live here or not.... from what I've seen.... most of international students stayed...

You're very OPTIMISTIC.... good!!!

Actually, while Malays are upset of so many apostates .... they dont realise that lots of Chinese and Hindus converted to Islam.....

from what I've heard, 200,000 Chinese in Malaysia embraced Islam all over the country.... i think it's kinda true.... in all mosques I've been there must be at least one chinese convert....

Hosting a dinner celebrating the holy month of Ramadan, President George W. Bush addresses ambassadors from Islamic nations and other distinguished guests in the State Room Nov. 19. "America has close and important relations with many Islamic nations So it is fitting for America to honor your friendship and the traditions of a great faith by hosting this Iftaar at the White House," said the President in his remarks. White House photo by Tina Hager.

Mariam Motala, right, prays during Ramadan services at the Islamic Center of Hawthorn, California. Although most of America’s mosques are located in large cities, more than a third of them are in rural and suburban areas.

Muslim worshippers, from left, Aminah, Shakera, Naima, Rabiyyah and her 11-year-old daughter Tanzila, have a small meal as they break their fast at the end of the first day of the holy month of Ramadan at the Islamic Cultural Center of New York, the largest mosque in the city. Recent studies of the ethnic ancestry of Muslims in North America show the rich diversity of Muslim communities across the United States, with immigrants from the Middle East, South Asia, Africa, Iran, the Balkans, and Turkey.

Giant Ketupats. The many decorative light fixtures strung along roads around town draw insects and photographers. Use a landmark for juxtaposition, preferably during the twilight hour when the sky still has shades of blue.

The Ginger Man surprises the ketupat lady with shouts of rapidly dropping prices at Kampung Baru. The time near dusk provides a more interesting mix of daylight and artificial lighting.
