12 Dua Immortalized in the Qur'an

This khutbah is especially appealing since not very many people are familiar with the supplications of Prophets other than those of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The sheikh explores the supplications of other Prophets and the circumstances they were in when they said each one. This gives the listener an in-depth understanding of the nature of each supplication and how it can be related to our own circumstances. By this, we can utilize the words of the Qur'an and the speech of the Prophets.

Spear of the Devil

Muhammad Alshareef addresses the topic of being thankful to Allah for the guidance He has given us. He mentions that for those of us who are not thankful to Allah, a veil is put upon us, swallowed by disobedience. The blessings which Allah has given us such as our senses, if used in disobedience to Allah, become the spear of the devil instead of a protection.

Clearing the Fog

In the world of Islamic da’wah, many methods have been constructed and implemented. Many preconceived notions of how da’wah is to be done have been enforced. In this presentation the speaker dispels many misconceptions regarding the forms of da’wah and replaces these notions with what is truly effective.

Eman - The Verb

Eman. The Verb. In this lecture, Muhammad Alshareef talks about the common pitfall of taking our Eman for granted. He encourages us to realize that if we do not have an aim in this life to reach Jannah, then by default, by the passing of time we will indeed be of the losers. It is only when we realize our purpose in this life will we attain high Eman, manifesting itself through our actions.

The EmanRush Zone

In this lecture, Muhammad Alshareef, discusses the importance of why we must all experience an Eman Rush, and that we must all be in the EmanRush “Zone” upon during our last breath in order to say the testimony of faith (shahada). Muhammad Alshareef mentions the four stages of an Eman Rush as well as the two types of people who will experience the EmanRush Zone; those who are completely away from Allah and returns to Allah, and those who are completely close to Allah.

The Last Supper

In his farewell lecture at Darussalaam, College Park, MD, Muhammad AlShareef expounds on the lessons we learn from the life of Prophet Eesa (AS). He begins with the story of Maryam,(AS) her virtues, the virgin birth as well as the trials she faced. Prophet Eesa’s(AS) compelling connection to us as the Ummah of Muhammad (SAW) is discussed, as well as his virtue of patience, wisdom, humility and the gratefulness to Allah (SWT). Muhammad Alshareef takes this opportunity to remind us that for every obstacle we face, we must remember lessons from the life of the prophets and see these obstacles as way to grow stronger in working for the sake of Allah (SWT).

When Wolves Become Shepherds

In this audio lecture, Sheikh Muhammad AlShareef gives a detailed analysis of the Shaytan's plot to lead humanity astray and ultimately land them in Hellfire. The content of the lecture is easily understood by the listener, as the Shaytan's plot is broken down into a series of levels. These levels categorize information concisely, and give the listener the opportunity to classify themselves as a member of a certain level. Discovering that one falls into a certain category allows the listener to diagnose his or her shortcomings and then find a suitable solution, insha'Allah. The lecture, however, does not leave the listener thinking, "Now that I know what my problem is, what do I do from here?" This element of practical application is a reoccurring theme in many of Sheikh Muhammad AlShareef's lectures.

Accidental Reflections

Excerpt: "Haroon ar-Rasheed (r) once prepared a lavish banquet and adorned his castle with the adornment of this dunya. He invited so many guests, and as the special guest, he invited the famous poet Abul A’tahiyah. When he arrived, Haroon ar-Rasheed said "Describe for us this bounty, this beauty we are now in.” The poet said: "Live as you wish, safe, in the shade of the towering castles.” Haroon ar-Rasheed said: "This is excellent.” Abul A’tahiyah said: "That whatever you desire is brought to you whether it is in the morning or evening.” Haroon ar-Rasheed said: "This is beautiful! Then what is next?” Haroon ar-Rasheed broke down in tears for the poet said: "When the souls quiver in the shade of the rattling chest at that moment then you will know for certain that all of this was nothing more than a delusion.”

Under The Shade of Scrolls

In this 4-part series lecture, Under the Shade of Scrolls, Muhammad Alshareef gives us snap shots of the lives of the four imams and the recurring themes in their lives. The lecturer encourages us to model ourselves after them so that we may also come close to their legacy.

CD1 - Imam Abu Hanifa

In the Name of Allâh, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
In this lecture, Muhammad Alshareef talks about the different ways Islam has been attacked through the ages. One of these ways was to defame the scholars of Islam. It is for this reason that Imam Abu Hanifa was criticized the most, and despite that, Allah has blessed him with his legacy of Fiqh. Muhammad Alshareef discusses the teaching styles of Imam Abu Hanifa such as establishing think tanks. In these think tanks issues are discussed by his legendary students of knowledge, by which rulings of Fiqh were derived. Imam Abu Hanifa was the first to develop an index for Fiqh, and it is through these achievements, Allah has blessed him to go the furthest in Fiqh which were eventually adopted by so many nations.

CD2 - Imam Malik

In the Name of Allâh, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Muhammad Alshareef, in this lecture calls Imam Malik a reviver of the Sunnah for his steadfastness in establishing the Sunnah in the city of Madina. He begins the lecture with Imam Malik's childhood and how his mother brought him to Masjid An-Nabawi to gain knowledge from the scholars of Madina. Imam Malik took what he learned, used it and went forward with it. His teaching techniques left no room for argumentation, debates or rhetoric. Muhammad Alshareef emphasized the Haybah of Imam Malik as a scholar, whereby when people would see him they would be in awe and in respect of him. It was through his demeanor his students would not only carry his legacy of Islamic knowledge but also his legacy in his manners and actions as a scholar.

CD3 - Imam Ash-Shafi'ee

In the Name of Allâh, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

In this lecture, Muhammad Alshareef describes Imam Ash-Shafi'ee's uniqueness as a powerhouse thinker who carried the knowledge of Islam. He begins by telling the story of how Imam Ash-Shafi'ee came with the opinion on the concept of Ijma'a. He discussed what Imam Ash-Shafi'ee went through to get the proof for his opinion, by praying all night and reciting the Qur'an for three days searching for the proof. In this process of combining out proofs, Imam Ash-Shafi'ee focused on understanding Allah's words, not just finishing the recitation of the Qur'an. Muhammad Alshareef emphasizes Imam Ash-Shafi'ee's confidence and honesty in spreading the knowledge to his students and to his society in general. He made many reforms, and as a student, he had a brilliant mind. At one point, he reached a level of popularity like those of the kings. And, his legacy lives on until today.

CD4 - Imam Ahmad

In the Name of Allâh, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Muhammad Alshareef gives us insight of the life of Imam Ahmad from his childhood, raised by a single mother in Baghdad, to adulthood. His mother's strong character had a massive influence over his life as she used to go through great lengths to take him to gatherings of knowledge. At a time when everyone was seeking dunya, Imam Ahmad was raised to seek the knowledge of Islam. Imam Ahmad would work odd jobs to sustain his efforts to seek knowledge. When other students rode to their classes, he walked, and sometimes worked carrying luggage for people. He later developed a strong bond with Imam Shafi'ee, and from east to west, he traveled to compile hadith. It is through this sincerity, that he became a marvel in the annals of Islam. In his famous quote, he said, "There was not a single hadith except that I tried my best to practice it."
