The vast majority of America is rural. The population is concentrated on the East and West coasts and the Southern Coasts of the great lakes. I believe about 75% of the US population can be found in the 25-30 largest cities.
The area between the Rocky and Appalachian mountains (an area that is Roughly 2,000 by 2,000 miles) is nearly all farm land.
Alaska although not directly connected to the lower 48 states is probably one of the least populated areas in the world after Antartica and the states of Wyoming and North Dakota.
With a population of 626,932, according to the 2000 U.S. census,[1] Alaska is ranked 48th out of the 50 states. But ranked by population density, Alaska is the least densely populated at 2.849 people per square kilometer (1.1 per square mile), with the next nearest ranking state, Wyoming, at 13.208 (5.1 per square mile), and the most densely populated, New Jersey, at 2937.92 people per square kilometer (1,134.4 per square mile). source:

Alaska is also one of the largest landmasses on Earth

Longitude: 152° 28.2'W
Borders Most of Alaska is surrounded by water. To the north is the Arctic Ocean, (the Beaufort Sea and the Chukchi Sea). To the south is the Gulf of Alaska and Pacific Ocean. To the west is the Bering Sea. Alaska's land borders Canada to the east and south.
Total Area Alaska covers 656,425 square miles, making it the largest of the 50 states and more than twice the size of Texas, the second largest state.
Land Area 570,374 square miles of Alaska are land areas.
Water Area 86,051 square miles of Alaska are covered by water.
Highest Point The highest point in Alaska is Mt. McKinley (Denali) at 20,320 feet above sea level. In fact, Mt. McKinley is the highest point in North America.
Lowest Point The lowest point in Alaska is sea level where at the state meets the Pacific Ocean, the Bering Sea, and the Arctic Ocean.

A hard days work. We had just finished up a set and he was about to be handed off when something told me to turn around and look and there was my little subject just staring back at me, arms and legs just dangling out. Praise be to Allah for that whisper in my ear.
I have an entire series that I took that turned out amazingly well, but the others are rather identifying and I believe the rules now are no identifying photos.
One of the photos is of the grandfather cradling and the baby and kissing him gently on the forehead. The photo has brought tears to the families eyes from the emotion that it conveys I am told. Inshallah may I continue to bring joy to these families.

I just remembered I have a whole lot of pictures of other states I have lived in. Here are some pictures from Connecticut, where I was born and lived until I was 19 years old.
The road in East Hartland going to Granville, I walked this road often as a kid
Barkhamstead, where I used to fish and swim

I did not take this next picture. But, this was the reason I left Connecticut. My first love the F-86 and life as a sky jockey:
Sadly I never took a single picture of the plane I flew, but it was identical to that one.

A few minutes ago our black and white cat "Panda" was sleeping at the foot of the couch. He looked so cute Aabidah decided to take some pictures of him. While taking the pictures our white cat "Sammy" jumped up on the couch. The look on "Panda's" face tells the story better then I can write it.

Great picture Sister. Reminds me I need to bring Aabidah to Connecticut to see the foliage. We don't have much here except for a few evergreens and some sparse hardwoods. The few oaks and maples are already changing color here, but they are few and far between.

Baraka Allah feek akhi.. you are much too generous..
one of the things I love about the U.S is that you can have any lifestyle you desire
like summer all year go to Florida
want to be cut off from the world and live a simple life join the Amish in Pennsylvanian
want great lakes go to michigan
want willowy trees and great sycamore trees, lazy afternoons, go to Georgia
want crazy nights and interesting architecture go to Louisiana
want great mountains and cool weather go to some remote part in the mid west or Alaska..
want Gotham, metropolis go to New York..
as much as I love traveling to far,mid east and Europe for their old ancient charms.. there is really no place like the U.S, well (outside of politics of course)..;D

Yeah because British weather is so bad! One minute it's raining, then it's sunshine and then it's mist and then there's an earthquake eruption out of the ground in your garden and then it's night with thunder and some sun coming out from somewhere. :rollseyes

This is my father's village in Teluk Bahang.

In the middle of jungle between Teluk Bahang and Balik Pulau.
If I'm not mistaken... these are "durian" trees... Balik Pulau is so famous with "durian" fruits...(the smelliest fruit on earth)
A village road in Balik Pulau.
Coconut trees in Balik Pulau.
Rainforest trees in Balik Pulau.

Winter? There is no such thing as winter in Malaysia....:D Malaysia is an equatorial country where the sun shines everyday and it could be raining at anytime... we have a lil bit of monsoon season too...
Most Malaysians cant stand 16 degree celsius... too cold....
The only place that snows in Malaysia is on the top of Mt Kinabalu (the highest mountain in Malaysia - about 4,100 m)
Is it dangerous? hmmm... nope!
But in the rainforest there are many poisonous snakes (ie King Cobra).

Thats good, 16 degrees celsius is too cold for me aswell :D So me nd most malaysians will get along just fine. Then the rain forests is a place i must go to! I need to look at those snakes at a close range, not the king cobra though :p Way to long to handle!

I went to my mum's cousin's house yesterday. His house is situated near Mt. Jerai, Kedah. There is a place called Bujang Valley near to his home where it's the major archeological excavation site in Malaysia (we only managed to visit the museum...but not the excavation sites) of an ancient Malay Kingdom (5th Century CE).
These are some pics I've got:
Driving through the paddy field.

Mt. Jerai. According to a local legend, Mt. Jerai was an island before.
