We hope not. She and most of the horses went up into the hills for the winter. We have not seen the Mare for about 3 weeks now. This is a dangerous time of year for a horse to foal. We had planned on her foaling in late March, but never know for certain.

Today my husband and I walked through a deer park.
It runs alongside a Safari Park. I would have loved to post a picture of the rhinos in the snow, but unfortunately they were too far away.

Nice. I just remembered what you call deer in the UK are more like our Elk or Wapiti. Nice picts. When I saw those two I thought they were Elk. I believe it is just different names for the same animal.
Our Deer are more like what I believe you call Fallow Deer.

I believe these are called Red Deer (Cervus elaphus)

These particular animals are raised in captivity, but according to the above website they still live wils in Scotland.

I wonder if rhinos
ever roamed free in these parts ... but the ones we saw today are definitely kept in captivity (and behind enforced fences at that! :D)

that will be funny :), so at summer for emaraties and other seasons for Malaysian
btw, the most visitors of Dubai Mall are foreigners. To be honest....I feel that the whole population of earth are making a big noise over duabi when I see it just a normal city but a little bit improved in a quick manner compared to the other middle east cities. that huge noise over it is only for a 5% of the total area of UAE which mean 3885 km^2

Yes, they're all in the same city. The first and last 3 pics were taken around my aunt's house; The pic of the grass and creek were at a local park; The one with the cloud cast was taken from a nearby river; and the sunset was taken before maghrib prayers as we were driving to the masjid during ramadan. When it snowed that day it wasn't as cold as it seems actually, that's why I was able to stand out there and actually take pictures and play in the snow, otherwise I think I would've died :D. I agree though, the summers here are far more beautiful.

the pictures look like a white background but that is snow falling visibility is maybe 100 feet. Earlier you could only see one or 2 feet distance.

Good reason. Laura Ingalls Wilder lived in this area. The original "Little House on the Praire" was about 100 miles south west of here. The house we live in here was built while she was still alive.
The house is basically a log cabin, the vinyl siding was added about 5 years ago. The horse shed is still original.

:w:
The force of a blizzard is unbelievable. Winds about 60 to 70 MPH and snow so heavy it looks like fog. Because of the extreme cold the snow dosen't form big flakes, just little tiny crystals that blow right through your clothing. the inside of the car was filled with snow, that blew in through tiny cracks in the weather stipping.
Fortunatly we did not have any serious damage and today a strager dropped by and plowed the drive way for us.
The roads still are not cleared though. We are far out away from any towns so our poor dirt road is low priority. It will be several days before the roads out here are plowed and we can get into town. some of the drifts over the roads are over 20 feet high. I believe we got nearly 4 feet of snow yesterday, but a lot of it is blowing off the flat lands and forming gigantic drifts. It looks odd. Looking out from an upstairs window I can see some of the corn fields are blown almost clear and the snow piled up on the roads.

The answer:
The Mosque was built inside an ancient Egyptian temple and when the Mosque was built, the door was at ground level. When the archaeologists excavated the temple to the original ground floor level, it left the mosque 5 metres above ground.

These are
NOT MY PICTURES, but I just wanted to share what it looks like here right now:
source
"Saudi men walk in Riyadh after a sand-storm hit the Gulf region with warnings of low visibility and threats to the oil industry."
source
There's a sandstorm going on right now, and it's absolutely CRAZY, you can barely see a few feet in front of you. I was outside when it started, and all of a sudden it just got dimmer and dimmer until the entire sky was a bright orange red, even brighter than the one in the picture...

This sandstorm took place about 3 years ago. I wasn't there when it happened, but i have been told by family that it was the worst sandstorm to take place in sudan.
People thought it was the day of judgement. U could not see ur own hand that day.

And yesss, people here were also freaking out wondering "oh man is this it?!". And then I reminded them that all the other signs had not happened, so no, the world wasn't coming to an end, lol.
Ahhh the only time something interesting happens here I'm stuck at school without my camera!!

Not exactly a picture. A youtube video I did today.
We got hit with another blizzard today. When the snow and wind slowed a bit to see. A flock of birds came into the yard to eat and play. I do not know what kind of birds these are. But, they did not walk on the snow they belly flopped and snow boarded like penguins. They were a little larger then the American Robin. visibility was too poor to identify any color.
It may take a few hours for Youtube to finish processing it, but here it is. If it is blank check back in a few hours.

Here are some pictures I took of the blizzard that hit us the other day. There was a short time break when the white out conditions let up enough to see out the window. The pictures where taken during the breaks. Below each picture is one taken today from the same windows, to compare.
Blizzards have a mysterious beauty about them. They seem to make the world magical and at the same time pure and clean. Fortunately, we did not have to go outside. The temperature was so low that any exposed skin would freeze instantly.
Both sets of pictures were taken at the same time of day. Just on different days.
Just adding this one I took today, because it looks nice.

Because they were taken for my blog header. And if they were left coloured, it would've looked horrible.
Here's a bit of colour:

Today is actually quite warm for this time of year and the snow is fast melting. However, it will soon turn cold again. Typically the last and worse blizzard for this region occurs in April and the last snow flurries occur in May.

I guess some were made in a car ? , that's why they look a little blurry.
but the first one is realy good , excellent quality , I thought you took it from the Internet orsomething :D
Reply
yeah most of my 'vacation' was spent in a car, the bottom three were taken from a car just the top two of khan el'khalil and 'al'husain were taken on foot.. I was really impressed with the image stabilization of the camera, given both my unsteady hands and the moving vehicle.. it sort of made up for the feeling of being ripped off, which I was when I purchased this camera.. but alas wal'7mdlilah at least I got some excellent pics out of it.. I also purchased a 4 gig memory card which is what I recommend you do when traveling so you can be worry free.
If you'd tell me a better way to upload some more I'd appreciate it. I took those from snapfish after uploading some to be enlarged and developed, it seems I can't take it directly from my computer. Alot of the pics were of me and family so I obviousely won't be putting those up here but I have a few more of cairo which I'd love to share if there was an easy cut and paste method.

sister you shouldve got a cam with rechargeable lithium battery...but its ok.........erm..you can use the photosharing websites to upload all ure pics ,so it can be viewed in slideshow,u might have to register allahualam...the best option is flickr........it will allow you to compile all your holiday pics to make a library..im not sure bout cut/paste method
Reply
this canon does come with a rechargeable battery and I have charged both bateries for three hrs the night before I left. I didn't want to recharge overseas because the voltage is 220v and even though I had an international converter, the instructions stated 'not for prolonged use' I didn't really want to take a chance and mess up an expensive camera ...
Yeah I'll have to use a photo sharing site, the problem with most is that you have to upload one pic at a time and that is just too time consuming for my liking..=)

Or you could download Flickr uploader and use that instead. But it has a certain upload limit per month. About 130 Mb, I think. But no limit on the number of photos you can upload in one go (so long as the total does not exceed 130 Mb).

The explosion photo was taken with a lens trick. You have to have a slightly long exposure while moving the lens from its longest length inwards or vice versa, depending on the affect you want. Its a great trick to have under your belt ;)

We got back from a week in South Dakota the temps here were in the upper 60s and all of the snow had melted. Today we got some nice fluffy soft snow. I took this pic. I could not get the full quality, but it is like being in one of thse snow globes. Very pretty, my photo does not to it justice.
Here is a picture from last week
But all is not over. South Dakota was hit with a very severe blizzard over the past todays. The state is actually closed, the roads are impassable. We were supposed to be back there tomorrow, but now we will wait it out here in Minnesota.

lol sis I'll try to post a pic from on top of my horse i.e just the horse's head lol, but not me and the 'Ashbal' as I called them.. we pulled some stunts in the desert it was the best part of an otherwise crappy vacation.. I have to say though I really appreciated how difficult it is to mount a horse pick a weapon and battle that way it is exhausting, also the desert is full of slopes and you can't predict how your horse will behave, some of them are NOT tame or friendly.. imagine charing forth on one of those animals imagine the genius of khalid ibn ilwaleed.... .. but it is so freeing.. I must buy me a horse..
so, I hear br. woody is in the horse business :-[:D

yeah I have a good idea considering how much soot came off my face and nose every night..
I pray to Allah swt that real Muslims reclaim Egypt.. it is such a disappointment ..
even hundred year old trees they were uprooted from the area around our house.. I don't understand the randomness of the thoughtless things that go on there..

Great pictures Skye... Since you say that it's a difficult task uploading these pictures, may I ask how you're uploading them?

:sl:
the first few (pages ago) I used snapfish since I got some of them printed and enlarged, these last few ones I used photobucket..
the 'mass upload' didn't work and the one by one took forever, plus cutting and pasting it was as well a challenge since it came with all those links and writing..
p.s thanks for viewing them

If I remember correctly, I recommended Flickr uploader a few pages ago. It's a good software that allows fast uploads. Also, you can easily resize on the site itself. I use both photobucket and Flickr... I find the countless albums feature on photobucket more useful than the 2/3 albums only in Flickr. But when it comes to uploading pictures in general and posting them on the internet, Flickr's more efficient (though it does have an upload limit of 120 (or so) Mb. =]
