It is such a poorly crafted poll though.

Asking "should veils be discouraged" begs the question about circumstances. I don't think the result of the poll is a clear indication of anything, as I'll wager a clear majority would say that they should not be discouraged at private events etc but should certainly be discouraged in identification photographs or in places where security and identification of the person and reading one's facial expressions are vital.

I mean I think you'd be very hard pressed to find a single respondent who'd say that they are against allowing veils at religious ceremonies. And I also think you'd be very hard pressed to find many who'd say a veil that completely covers the face is ok on a driver's license.

it's cos there are so many people so it takes a lot of votes to change the poll a whole percent.

I don't know when you last filled in a passport form or a driving license form but it says that in the photos, faces shouldn't be covered anyway and us veil wearers do follow that rule and have our photos taken without the veil. And when it comes to showing our faces for security reasons eg in an airport or bank etc then we ask for a female member of staff ^o) so everybody's fine with it, and I certainly don't see a problem with it. Then again I am biased, what being a veil wearer and that.......:D

Anyways on topic, i voted a few days ago and it was 40 something % for yes and 50 something % for no and now its 40 and 60 so I think its working.
