So you see a thing but Allaah has planned another...

Allāh
prepares the believer in ways
which are incomprehensible to the naked human intellect, He
prepares the believer in ways, of its result, He alone is aware
of. A person sees something, while what is intended out of it was
other than what he thinks from it as a result. He sees a matter as
a destruction and a loss, while the reality behind it might be
that Allāh
wills good for his slave by:-

• Make him come back with sadness to Allāh

• Save him from a misguidance which might occur due to his walking
in that path or being with that thing.
• Or punish him in order to remind him of his misguidance or his
being far away from Allāh

• Or Allāh
wants to bestow you with a
responsibility or knowledge, but He sees you unfit and your soul
unfertile to make it grow in you, thus he afflicts you with trials
until your soul gets strong and heart becomes fertile to accept it
and make it grow in you without making it die.

But most of the human intellects does not comprehend this, thus
they neither repent nor improve their deeds when they are
afflicted with trials.

This could be explained in detail, but let me explain it with a
short example so that the readers don’t get bored…

There is this dry piece of land which is in between many lands,
which is with weeds and different types of parasites, but due to
it being connected with these lands, the weeds and parasites are
on it too…

Likewise a believer is amongst many people, from them are
wrongdoers and munāfiqīn and their likes, and when the
believer (without his knowledge)takes these sickness upon him, he
does see it to be normal…

Then a farmer with experience chooses this land for he knows that
if he invests in it, he might get benefit out of it…

Likewise Allāh
chooses from the slaves who
has potential to carry the guidance and the flag of tawhīd
amongst all the people…

So the farmer to cultivate the piece of land, the farmer separates
the land from the others, with a border and makes sure the weeds
and parasites from the other lands doesn’t cross over it…

Likewise Allāh
separates this slave from the
others from whom parasites and sicknesses might transfer to him.
The reason of this separation might be unknown to the man, but a
Knower is preparing him…

Then the farmer starts to use spades and tractors to clean the
land and plough it…

Likewise Allāh
starts to clean him with
different types of trials, from sadness and pain, tears and
sicknesses, taking the loved ones from him and putting him to
jails… but the slave doesn’t comprehend the reason behind all
this…

Then the farmer puts fertilizers in it, from the rotting things…

Likewise Allāh
puts him to trials, from
making him face what he dislikes, from fowl words and harshness
from others…

Then only when the farmer knows well that the seeds he will sow
will not go to waste, he sows it…

Likewise when Allāh knows the
responsibility which He is to bestow or the knowledge which he is
to give to that heart, will not go wasted, Allāh makes the slave understand the the knowledge and gives him responsibility…

But in the first days it was not known to the land nor to the
human why he is being tortured so much, from isolation to hitting
it with spades or digging it, from putting dung on it… but were
the seeds to be sowed before it was ready to carry it, the seeds
would have died, with minute it touches the land…

Likewise were the human given the understanding, before his heart
and soul is ready to take it, then it would be wasted…

But if it were fertilized and all the destructive sicknesses taken
away from it, then it would make the tree of tawhīd to come
alive in him and the fruits of his action would be very pure and
healthy…

So you see a thing but Allāh

has planned another…

In the heart there is hardness that nothing bit the remembrance
of Allah will melt. So let the servant cure the hardness of his
heart by the remembrance of Allah....When heedlessness takes hold
of the heart, so does hardness. But when Allah is remembered, that
hardness melts like lead in fire. And nothing will melt it as well
as remembrance.-Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya
