Under the guise of providing humanitarian relief the UN and it allies (thousands of troops) occupied the Muslim land. This was totally rejected by the Islamists who small in number and poorly equipped killed many UN workers including 24 Pakistani apostates. At least 31 US soldiers were slain, whose bodies were dragged through the streets of Mogadishu (capital city) to show the world that this so called superpower is nothing but a bunch of cowards.
Laughable!! That doesn't even qualify as 'revisionist', it's just pure fantasy. There were no 'Islamists'. Those soldiers were killed by the same warlords (or at least those still alive), and the clans, that now oppose the ICU. The reason for Aideed's success in Mogadishu was that he managed to mobilise many hundreds, if not thousands ,of armed clansmen at very short notice, so even the "small in number" is wrong.
The purpose of that mission was to save civilian lives in Somalia, and it did.. probably many hundreds of thousands. The Mogadishu incident was, indeed, a fiasco and a mistake, but nevertheless there was no 'guise' of humanitarian relief.. the warlords used starvation as a weapon and thousands of Somalis were dying. If you want an example of 'cowardice' read up on the attack (a word which rather dignifies murder) on the Pakistani peace-keepers. Sorry, 'apostates'. And who are the 'cowards'; those who died fighting or those who dragged their dead bodies through the street?
Are 'Islamists' now so desperate they will even claim the deeds of their current enemies as their own, just because those deeds involved killing Americans fifteen years ago?
