I think the best nasheed singer is Dawd Wharnsby Ali..seriously no one has been able to beat him yet ( speaking in terms of the words, tunes, use of instruments etc) and tehn Zain Bhikka. Personally, i used to like sami Yusuf's masheed until i say he uses piano and i get the impression that a lot of focus on on himself rather than the rods of the song. I think he is pretty much like any other celebrities . :)

Salaams everyone,

Dawud Wharnbys Ali is one of the most wonderful nasheed singers ever to have graced the earth!!! His lyrics, especially the song 'Dont talk to me About Muhammad' is astonishing. He educates and entertains at the same time. And he's Canadian!!!!

I use to like Sami Yusuf until I started to think about all the instruments he uses and I saw him live in concert, and I got the impression that he views himself like a singer singer and not a nasheed singer.

One cannot forget Hassen Rasool....Allah has given this young man a beautiful voice that touches the souls' of anyone who listens to it.

Well thats my humble opinion....hope I didnt offend anyone.

P.S. Raihan is really good, but I havent a clue what they sing about....one song I love is Haji Menuju Allah...that song is amazing!!!!

My kids love Dawad warnsby's animals love Quran, but i have to go with the nasheed last breathe, very moving,

its cool to have brothers singing nasheeds in english so we can understand them(us english speaker s that is)

does dawad warnsby use musical instrements sometimes? coz i believe string and wind instrements are haram.

U knw i agree with you totally sister mariayam. These artists use musical instruments when there is no need for them. Moreover it usually drowns out the voice!

Funny how u say that they should have "Two versions, one with and one without" because Zain Bhika has done exactly that with his latest Album, Mountains Of Makkah!

He has 16 Track in total and 10 tracks have no music at all! I definitely recommemnd it, a Brilliant album. Must Buy! :thumbs_up

i recently heard "the veil" and "sunshine, dust and the messenger"; by dawud wharnsby ali...... and i fell in love with both the lyrics and 2 beautiful read nasheeds if thats what you would call them:D

but apart from that theres loads of males who recite nasheeds that are soothing to the ears to hear.

e.g. "goraba" by sheikh saad ul ghamidi.
zain bhikha.... has a well cute voice all of his are really nice.... espeacially "i wont cry for you little one"..... gets me everytime:'( another good one is when the leaves begin to fall:D

and theres so many more kammal uddin, razza, yusuf islam, Ahmed bukhatir, sami yusuf is ok..... but generally speaking i prefer nasheeds without the funky beats, cz its music isnt it and thats not allowed, just duff is acceptable so those without are good for me;)

and im no expert i still havent heard all of them and Allah knows best!!

Hmmm let me think....my favourite nasheed?

Ahh I love this nasheed called: Idrib ya asad Al Fallujah, I dont know who the singers are , but its real great mashallah :-)

I love all nasheeds that are tough when you listen to them yet they are about jihad and the situation of the muslims today in the muslim world.

Or else I dont have any special nasheed singer, but I only listen to nasheeds in arabic, they are very real to me when it is in arabic, even though I dont understand it :-(

Salamualaikum,

my fav is Samir al-Basheeri. but, a really good site for nasheed that i recently found is:

http://projecthaq.com/

Unfortunately, you can't download any of them yet. but, insh'Allah, some day.
Oh, and, Alhamdullilah! none of the songs have instruments in them! which is something really difficult to come by nowadays.

Guys even though i'm a big Jihaad nasheed fan and totally rate the stuff by Abu 'Ali as well as the iconic classics of the past decade or so from among "Baroudati", "Sanakhudu" and "Ghurabaa", I have to admit, people put way too much time into anaasheed.

It seems that we may sometimes become so pre-occupied by a nasheed or an artist that we lose track of the purpose behind listening to them in the first place - to gain closeness to Allah and create a determination in pleasing Allah Azza wa Jall. This is why some from among the shuyookh said they fear the effect of anaasheed as too much of it can kill eemaan. One begins to like certain artists a lot become attached and even dissuaded from hearing the words of Allah! The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "The difference between the words of Allah and words of creation is the same as the difference between Allah and creation itself" (Musnad Ahmad).

Let us remind ourselves that listening to anaasheed is not ibaadah but reciting the Qur'aan gives atleast 10 good deeds per letter! It is healing of the heart and also a means of guidance. Ignoring or forgetting it is a means of destruction and misguidance. Allah says in Surah Ta-ha:

"And whoever turns away from My remembrance – indeed, he will have a depressed [i.e., difficult] life, and We will gather [i.e., raise] him on the Day of Resurrection blind." He will say, "My Lord, why have you raised me blind while I was [once] seeing?" [Allah] will say, "Thus did Our signs come to you, and you forgot [i.e., disregarded] them; and thus will you this Day be forgotten."
(verses 124-126)

So perhaps a better question is who is your favourite reciter of the Glorious Book as even the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had his favourites: Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, Mu'adh ibn Jabal, Saalim mawlaa Abi hudayfah and Abu Musa al-Ash'ari.

I would say my top 3 reciters are:

1. Tawfeeq as-Saa'igh
2. Abdullah al-Mattrod
3. Yaasir al-Faylakawi

Any suggestions?

Jazakallahu Khairan for the reminder, bro. You made a great point, but I'd just like to add that while listening to anasheed may not reap reward, it's a good way to divert yourself from music. However, I completely agree that we should maintain our time and utilize it in more beneficial ways.

We've got a whole thread on fave recitors here: http://www.islamicboard.com/islamic-...e-recitor.html

Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah,

Jazakallah Khayr ukhtee for that information. May Allah increase you and your family in good. Ameen.

A word of warning as a reminder to myself as well as all of our brothers and sisters in the deen. Tamim ad-Dari reported that Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said "The religion is advice..." (Saheeh Muslim).

I used to be drugged and diseased on the music scene and Allah knows of my deep affiliation with it for a long period of time. I used to be one of those hip hop zombies whose ipod would be jam packed, even though it had 8gb worth of memory, with songs upon songs and beats upon beats. Then I managed to listen to a great lecture series entitled "the end of music" by Ustaad Kamaal al Makki from USA.

What I came to realise was, music contains nifaaq, lies, abuse, sexual promiscuity as well as dangerous levels of mind manipulation through a carefully controlled media. Alhamdulillah my love is now with the greatest of kalaam, the Qur'aan. I read it in english translation whilst the various Mishaary, Mattrod, Jibreen, Ghamidi, Saa'igh audios play and wallah I regretted neglecting it!

Then my phase caught onto anaasheeds. I started listening and downloading and they were enjoyable and beautiful in meaning, but slowly I began noticing a change...nasheed concerts? overpraising lyrics? instruments like the guitar and a band? Allah protect us. The use of instruments is completely haraam and is the same as music as the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam explained that they are the instruments of Shaytaan. Even the duff which I thought was completely OK has significant differences of opinion regarding its permissibility.

My advice is to make sure that the anaasheed we listen to are:

1. Similar to the likes of what was condoned by Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
It was the incident of the small girls with a drum who spoke of the great martyrs in the deen, May Allah include us in their ranks. It must contain praiseworthy words and be free from all forms of idle speech.

2. Not have any words that contradict the Shari'ah.
Such as in the same incident mentioned previously, one of the girls narrated "...and among us is a Prophet who knows what will happen tomorrow" to which he said "take that out...". Many nasheed artists overpraise the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in a way only befitting of Allah and this is a calamity from amongst the Jews and Christians. (Look at the shirk involved in the "Qaseeda Burda" for example!)

3. No use of musical instruments apart from the duff.
Even though the duff is argued to be the apparatus of the women, some ulama differ, but as for all string, wind and percussion instruments as such are not permissible at all and blameworthy.

4. Contain a balance in timeframe
So that we dedicate enough time to the seeking of beneficial knowledge as well as listening to lectures, Surahs as well as reading. One who forgets the Qur'aan will be raised blind on the Day of Judgement as mentioned in Surah Ta-ha.

5. That we are aware of whom we listen to!
This is important and overlooked often - Who are we listening to and why are they singing? For example, Outlandish is not a nasheed group, it is a music band of three brothers in the deen, May Allah guide them and us both ameen, who use various instruments and are content on making music. Many among those who loved nasheed became involved in stepping over the limits designated by the Qur'aan and Sunnah. Groups often get involved in bid'ahs and statements of kufr as well as sin, the likes of which emanated from heretical thought and deviated sects.

The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said:
"All newly invented matters are misguidance, all misguidance is in the Fire" (Saheeh al-Bukhari)
"Whoever creates a new thing in this affair (Islam) shall have it rejected" (Saheeh al-Bukhari)
"Whoever says that I said something but I did not, let him take his seat in hellfire" (Agreed upon)

May Allah save us from sins, bidahs, shirk and all forms of harm and deprivation of the Pleasure of Allah. May Allah make us all from among those who earn Allah's pleasure: the shuhadaa, siddiqeen, saaliheen. Ameen.

Your brother,

Billal

Is Mishary al-Aradah the one who sung "Farshy al-Turaab"?

If so that is probably the most eye opening nasheed i've heard. I like certain anaasheed better than others as they tend to focus on really good topics. Some of my all time favourites are:

Sanakhudu, Ghurabaa, Qom, Aqd al'Azm, Khayr Khalq Allah and Ummi. All due to their messages. They bring you that feeling of wanting to make a change and rectify yourself as well as remembering the important elements of Islam such as honour, unity upon truth, respect towards others and fulfilling the covenant with Allah

May Allah allow us all to be united with those of the Garden Ameen.

lol are you talking about the RIS? That was an amazing event!!!!!

The Nasheed "Dil Badal De" means Change the Heart...
He also explained this Hadith..

The Prophet of Mercy, Sayyiduna Muhammad al-Mustafa salla’llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said :

‘Surely there is in the body a small piece of flesh; if it is good, the whole body is good, and if it is corrupted, the whole body is corrupted, and that is surely the heart’.

It is some utopic dream to have them live a life with some semblance of normalcy, but as you can see, just living in Palestine very well denotes you wake up in the morning to find your home ransacked and your mother killed...
Let's not take away from them, the only glimmer of victory they might have, even if it be in the form of a nasheed. By the way as a child I had loads of different types of guns from water to pellet which I shot at my bro. srs. cousins and the neighbors.. there was no amero-Israeli stigma attached to playing with one and the irony is they think it is wrong to dance with a gun, but see nothing wrong with aiming it at people and snuffing their lives out!

Songs of Innocence

chorus
Allahu Allahu La ilaha illa Hu

And I sing my songs of innocence
To you my precious child as you lay on your bed
With your sleepy eyes and your heavy head
Rest and dream in peace till morning comes again

I will sing my songs of innocence
I will sing my songs of innocence

And I sing my songs of innocence
As I watch you sleep, think what may lie ahead.
So many the roads that before you spread
Take the way, my child, to the Beloved Friend

Lead a life of truth and innocence
The way of sunnah, the path of the Prophet
Let your words be echoes of his sentences
Let your deeds be shadows of his radiance.

And though the world outside seems cold and hard
And you may feel like you are wandering alone
Do not fear, do not grieve, in Allah place your belief
In his remembrance your heart will find its peace

And I gaze at you in wonderment
How your heart is filled with innocence.
You’ll never know the joy you bring to me
How your touch and smile dispel my every grief

May you never lose your innocence
With life’s bittersweet experience
And when the time comes, remember this:
Wisdom is the refinding of innocence.

Now you’re breathing easy, I must call an end
I have sung my song of innocence
And if our paths should never cross again
May God’s peace and mercy upon you descend

We will meet at the gathering of innocence
At al-Kauthar, the fount of abundance
By the Prophet’s hand may our thirst be quenched
We will be with him, and we will be content

Salallahu `alayhi wa alihi
Peace and blessings on him and his family
And all who follow in his blessed way
You and I, my child, may we among them be
You and I, my child, may we among them be…

Will you help me learn of innocence?
Sing a song of love and innocence?
Will you help me find my way back home?
Will you fill my heart with innocence?
May I come to you an innocent?
Let me sing my song of innocence.
