There's a new report out by the European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia (EUMC). It's called "Muslims in the European Union: Discrimination and Islamophobia".

It basically observes that all around the EU there are mosque-burnings going on, Muslim businesses are being attacked, and regular Muslims are also being physcially attacked.

As I was unfamiliar with this web site, I did some checking and found this:

The primary task of the European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia (EUMC) is "to provide the Community and its Member States (…) with objective, reliable and comparable information and data at European level on racism, xenophobia and anti-Semitism in order to help them when they take measures or formulate courses of actions within the spheres of competence".

On the basis of the data collected, the EUMC studies the extent and development of the phenomena and manifestations of racism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and related intolerance. The EUMC analyses their causes, consequences and effects. It is also the task of the EUMC to work out strategies to combat racism and to highlight examples of good practice regarding the integration of migrants and ethnic and religious minority groups in the EU Member States.

The very core of the EUMC's activities is the European Information Network on Racism and Xenophobia (RAXEN) . It is designed to collect data and information at national as well as at the European level. This is accomplished via National Focal Points, contracted by the EUMC to collect, coordinate and disseminate national and EU information in each of the EU Member States.

The EUMC was established by Council Regulation (EC) No 1035/97 of 2 June 1997 (OJ L 151, 10 June 1997) which was amended by Council Regulation (EC) No 1652/2003 of 18 June 2003.

The EUMC commenced its activities in 1998.

On 4/5 December 2006, the Justice and Home Affairs Council of the European Union reached an agreement to extend the EUMC’s mandate to become the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights from early 2007. In December 2003, the Member States had requested the European Commission to prepare a legislative proposal for the creation of a European Union Fundamental Rights Agency in Vienna to be built upon the EUMC. This proposal was published in June 2005.

Perhaps they should try doing a study on "Non-Muslimaphobia".

I don't think you should trivialize this, since Islamophobia leads to such things as hate crimes.

And the "non-Muslimaphobia" that you speak of... Have you ever considered that it may be a result of the discrimination and racism that Muslims suffer from in Europe and elsewhere?
