Dear fellow muslims and those trying to gain or spread knowledge of Islam,

There has just recently begun an Islam Open Document Project where a team is gathering to place a mass library of articles, research, and lectures on Islam in one place to be reserved for the public. Currently it is running at http://islamopendocument.blogspot.com/ . Please help this growing community by adding links to research or articles on current events in Islam.

The potential for this project is immeasurable; many will benefit. Please contribute your thoughts and articles (or even your own personal essays on topics on current events in Islam).

Take care, may peace be with you

:sl: bro, uh...there's nothing really there...

Wouldn't it also be a good idea to help improve the quantity and quality of Islamic articles on wikipedia? I mean it's a place that everyone already knows and has a good chance of running into some useful topics even by accident.

Anyways, do you want to give us any details about the Open Document project?

I apologize, the website was down for a short term, but now functioning properly.

Of course Wikipedia is an excellent source of materials on Islam, no doubt. However the Islam Open Document Project is aiming at gathering current event news articles, story specials, personal essays, audio lectures, and research (all on Islam) in a professional and open manner all in one place.

It will also cover muslim music scenes across the globe, international muslim companies and charities such as the UK based JIMAS, among other related articles.

To improve the quantity and quality of Wikipedia articles would be rather difficult as anyone can make changes to any article at anytime. Furthermore, many universities do not allow direct quoting or researching from Wikipedia articles. The Islam Open Document Project is merely trying to create a sound and secure place for virtually any media regarding gaining and spreading Islamic knowledge and culture. Please read this article.

So please visit and contribute. Getting started and spreading the word is sometimes the hardest part.

Take Care
