Sincerity - Ikhlaas : "The Tawheed of the Intent"

  • Sincerity - by Imâm al-Madîna al-Munawarrah 'Alî Abd-ur-Rahmân al-Hudhafi
Alee (ra) said: “Do not be concerned with smallness of deed; rather be concerned with the acceptance of that deed.”
  • In Search of Sincerity - Muhammad al-Shareef
Deeds without sincerity are like a traveler who carries in his water-jug dirt. The carrying of it burdens him and it brings no benefit.
  • Sincerity Towards Allah - by Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah
Every action that is not performed for His sake then it is wasted and severed. Every heart that does not reach Him is wretched, veiled from achieving its success and happiness....
  • How Might One Obtain Ikhlaas? - Ibn Qayyim al Jawziyyah
Ikhlaas cannot coexist in a heart which [embraces] the love of praise and commendation, [nor] the yearning [to obtain] that which is possessed amongst the people, save in the [manner] that fire and water, or a lizard and fish may coexist.
  • Ikhlaas - Based on Sh. Husayn al-Awaayishah's "Book of Sincerity"
  • The Acceptable Action - From Hussain Al-Awaa'ishahs Kitaab Ul-Ikhlaas - Abu Iyaad
Stressing the importance of correct intention and actions conforming to the Book and the Sunnah and how they are two conditions for the acceptable action
  • Correctness and Intention.. Conditions of Reformation - By Abû 'Âliyah Surkhîl ibn Anwar Sharîf - 4p
Outlining the two pillars of an acceptable action and how they form the basis for the rectification of the Muslim Ummah.
  • Ikhlas (Sincerity):A Necessary Condition of Ibadah - Abu 'Iyad
  • The Hadeeth of Intention - Imaam Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali
Ibn Rajab provides an excellent explanation of the niyyah from the well known hadeeth of 'Umar ibn al-Khattaab. Many statements from the Salaf and additional hadeeth texts
  • Style over Substance: How cool is that? - Umm Rashid
It’s a clear sign of the times – the world values smart people more than sincere ones. Well-dressed, well-heeled, well-spoken individuals score more brownie points socially, are more popular and more likely to be successful in whatever they set out to do -- regardless of what they may be like within.
  • Riya - Minor Shirk - Secret Shirk - Bilal Philips - From the book "Fundamentals of Tawheed"
  • Riya - Definition, Causes and Warning Signs - Yasir Qadhi - islaam.net
  • Glimpses from the Book: Riyaa : Hidden Shirk - Yasir al-Qathi/ Edited By Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips
-Good deeds must be done for the sake of Allah alone for them to be acceptable. Righteous deeds done for worldly gain have been transformed into evil deeds unacceptable to Allah. Therefore, it is extremely important for the God-fearing to know the factors which would convert righteous deeds into evil deeds. Riyaa is one of the most powerful of such factors and its subtleness makes it among the most dangerous and difficult to diagnose.
-A systematic treatment of one of the most dangerous spiritual diseases, by which the intention is misdirected and the reward of good deeds is lost.
