The first questions. What operating system are you using and what version of Media player?

I suppose you have tried looking in the option-menu if there's anything you can do from up there. If really nothing helps my next try would be to un-install and then re-install to see if the problem stays. Perhaps even do a registry cleaning inbetween un- and re-installing.

Steve just gave some good advice. Also if you are using version 11 you may want to roll back to version 10. I had some stability problems with 11 and found 10 to be much more stable.

Here is a site that can help you with that.

LOl, deleting files is tricky :)
Maybe you should try system-restore?
Do you know how that works?

Euhm if system restore didn't work then I don't think there's much I can help you with. You're probably missing some files or important .dll's
There 's a menu where you can check missing dll's but I forgot where.
I would take a quick look if only I hadnd't deleted my windows and switched to linux :p

Also, this might be pointing out the bleeding obvious, but I'll ask anyway to be safe, when you did a system-restore, are you sure you took a restore-point from before you deleted those files?

Lets ask the same questions. What OS are you using and what version of WMP are you trying to install/re-install?

Any attempt at installing WMP 11 will have to be removed. Go through and uninstall everything about wmp. Shut down and restart your PC

Then go to the site I mentioned above and install wmp 10.

XP with service pack 2 seems to be having some issues with WMP especialy WMP 11 and WMP 9

Jazakullah for the info..But done that no luck..For some reason it keeps saying:
"This version of Windows Media Technologies is incompatible with this version of Windows. For more information, view the information at the Microsoft web site."
