i got this on email just now and i thought i'd post it on here...

hey it is Andy and john the directors of MSN, sorry for the interruption but
msn is closing down. this is because too many inconsiderate people are
taking up all the name (eg making up lots of different accounts for just one
person), we only have 578 names left. If you would like to close your
account, DO NOT SEND THIS MESSAGE ON. If you would like to keep your
account, then SEND THIS MESSAGE TO EVERYONE ON YOUR CONTACT LIST. This is no
joke, we will be shutting down the servers. Send it on, thanks. WHO EVER
DOES NOT SEND THIS MESSEAGE, YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE CLOSED AND YOU WILL COST
£10.00 A MONTH TO USE. SEND THIS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR CONTACT LIST. NOW YOU
KNOW WHAT TO DO. PLEASE DO NOT FORWARD THIS or REPLAY. COPY THE WHOLE EMAIL.
GO BACK TO YOUR INBOX AND CLICK ON NEW.
AND PASTE THANK YOU FOR YOUR
ATTENTION go to the site (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/1189119.stm )
and see for yourself. once you've sent this message to at least 18 contacts,
your msn dude will become blue

. If you would like to keep your
account, then SEND THIS MESSAGE TO EVERYONE ON YOUR CONTACT LIST.
what they basiclly do, is they make you forward to people this email, till it gets forwarded to hundres of people, and then this person takes these emails and puts them on his system and then all these hundres of people are gonna recieve spam email.
that's one of the ways the people do spam.

When you get emails telling you to do something like this, than it is best not to do it.

I got that email about 5 years ago. It's a chain letter. What do people get out of it from making people send emails to everyone?

A lot of people get fooled by it, don't worry. I've received countless emails like this but what people fail to realise is that no email service in their right mind would charge for it, since everyone else is doing it for free; if msn charges people for emails, you betcha yahoo and gmail are going to get a lot of new customers. As a business, you cannot afford to make that kind of mistake.

By all means, forward the above to all your email contacts.

Why'd they even bother to send that? It doesn't look like anything MSN would send. Not formal enough.

Yeah, me too. They say I'd have to deposit US$10,000 to get $US 2 million, but I always reply, "just deduct that from the $US 2 mil and give me the balance". Then they'll be quiet after that.

I don't know why some generous people suddenly turn not generous. Am I a turn off?
