for opening the kabah i understand, however the army blocking off a part for the royal family to do Hajj i dont understand. if they want them rights they should do their tawaaf on the roof. otherwise they should aknowledge for just the days of Hajj atleast, that they are equal to the other Hujjaj except in Taqwa.

Probably more for security than anything, to prevent them being mobbed. I'm not disagreeing (or agreeing), it's just that's the most likely reason.

actually, it's a bit to do with vanity and pride, I remember when I was doing umra last year some prince type of brother came to the prophets mosque while I was in Madinah Lets just say there was a personal ambulance at least 12 different luxray cars, 6 police cars and 20 armed officers, the funny thing is most people were asking who's the fuss over they didn't know the guy :D

with the women veiled and the men all in typical saudi gear i dont think anyone would have the time to recognise them.
and if it because of the mobbing they should be away from the crowds safely up on the roof :D

Inside the Kaaba, there is a marble floor. The interior walls are clad with marble half-way to the roof; tablets with Qur'anic inscriptions are inset in the marble. The top part of the walls are covered with a green cloth decorated with gold embroidered Qur'anic verses. The building is believed to be otherwise empty.
