no...sri lankans dont refer to themselves as desi..though techically sri lankans are included in the term...if i were to call a sri lankan desi..it would suggest that he is being very indian..

hmm interesting. I have come across some indians who think "desi" means indian only and not pakis as well. But just as arab means arab regardless of you being from palestine, saudi, egypt, uae, etc, and african means african regardless what country in the world and so too desi means desi for those from SE Asia, the brown people :)

I bet those mosques and churches are in Muslim countries. I hear some neocons and christian fundamentalists often claim that christians are being tortured and forced to convert and what not. Christians have more religious freedom there than muslims have in non-muslim countries. Maybe becuase its the same race just different religions?

i beleive one of them was in syria, and the other in Lebanon. one was in ethiopia, and one egypt. so besides ethiopia and Lebanon (which are Christoislamic) then i guess so lol

i would consider Lebanon more Christoislamic though, and not just muslim.. as it is 40% Christian! not to mention that 1/5 of the muslims are sunni, 4/5 shia, so you have alittle diversity there.

subhanAllah; this reminds of me of the ayaah;

"Had We sent down this Qur'an on a mountain, verily, thou wouldst have seen it humble itself and cleave asunder for fear of Allah. Such are the similitudes which We propound to men, that they may reflect."

and i think it was a hadith, where it was said that if the whole of mankind was to ask Allah for what ever they wanted, Allah would give it to them simutainously without His power deminishing, just as a needle would demenish the river if it was dipped in it.
