Allah, the Exalted, says:

"O you who believe! Be afraid of Allah, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds)". (9:119)

Thats true akhee, we don't fear Allaah the way He should be feared.

Also, theres a Sahih Hadith where the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wa Aalihi Wa Sallam) said something along the lines of; 'Look at whom you befriend, because a person is most likely to follow the faith of their friend."

Yeh sister! its really very sad to know that we are just so Called muslims but we have no fear of Allah, if we have fear of Alalh we must do some thing for Akhirah.
May Allah (az wa jal) make us with Mo'mineen. Ameen

Trustfulness

Allah [may He be Glorified] said: "Truly, We did offer Al-Amânah (the trust or moral responsibility or honesty and all the duties which Allâh has ordained) to the heavens and the earth, and the mountains, but they declined to bear it and were afraid of it (i.e. afraid of Allâh's Torment). But man bore it. Verily, he was unjust (to himself) and ignorant (of its results)".
(33:72)

Commentary:

This verse includes the following issues:
1. Showing the importance of trust with which Allah entrusted the "Mukallafun" (those who have reached the age of puberty and are thus accountable for their deeds) among mankind. This is represented in the implementation of His orders and keeping away from His prohibitions both in public and in private.

2. Allah offered this trust to the heavens, the earth, the mountains as an option, not as an obligation. If they were to accept the offer they would have been recompensed according to their actions, but if they were to neglect it, they would have been punished. But the heavens, the earth and the mountains declined from accepting this offer, fearing that they might not be able to fulfil the trust, not because of disobedience, nor due to their lack of interest in Allah's reward.

3. When Allah offered the same trust to mankind on the same condition, they accepted it and burdened themselves with such heavy trust. However, people were divided into three categories regarding their attitude to such trust:

First: The hypocrites who performed the trust outwardly but neglected it inwardly.

Second: The polytheists who neglected the trust outwardly and inwardly.
Third: The believers who fulfilled the trust outwardly and inwardly.
Explaining this, Allah said: "So that Allâh will punish the hypocrites, men and women, and the men and women who are Al-Mushrikûn (the polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers, in the Oneness of Allâh, and His Messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him) that He may pardon (accept the repentance of) the true believers of the Islâmic Monotheism, men and women. And Allâh is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful" (33:73) See Tafsir Ibn Sa'di, p. 620. (Al-Luwaihiq Edition).

Surah Luqmân (31) verse 10:
"He created the heavens without any pillars that ye can see; He set on the earth mountains standing firm, lest it should shake with you; and He scattered through it beasts of all kinds. We send down rain from the sky, and produce on the earth every kind of noble creature, in pairs." [25:63]

Assalaamo Alaikum:
The Actual Aya in the Quran is as follows:

And the underlined words of the Aya are usually translated as :
He set on the earth mountains standing firm, lest it should shake with you;
"Lest it should not shake with you " (I have copy pasted this translation from above post though from English grammar point of view it is wrong)= So that it should NOT shake with you
My question is which word in the Aya is giving the meaning of this NOT.
In fact the Root ( ماد )has the following meanings :
(ميد) الميم والياء والدال أصلانِ صحيحان: أحدُهما يدلُّ على حركةٍ في شيء، والآخَر على نفعٍ وعطاء.
Ref: Maqaabees ul Lugha by Ibne Faaris
And under this heading Lan's Lexicon gives the meaning of ( مادت به الارض ) as follows :
"The ground went round with him"
From my Point of view this Aya is actually pointing to the "revolving of the Earth."
The reason for presence of Mountains is that any revolving thing if it has more mass there is more "inertia of movement" and this thing keeps the motion stable and contant.
Just a thought.
All the best

"And when Our clear communications are recited to them you will find denial on the faces of those who disbelieve; they almost spring upon those who recite to them Our communications. Say: Shall I inform you of what is worse than this? The fire; Allah has promised it to those who disbelieve; and how evil the resort!"

Surah 22 - Al-Hajj Verse 72
