Sam is stupid. Other authors are much better like "do it yourself", "idiots guide" and other similiar books.

chill out bro. take it easy. don't make such harsh comments on people. everyone has his/her own opinions. Some people might find Sams' books useful, while other not. That's why u have a range of books, or authors, to choose, so it depends which ones your brain understands easily.

lol but sam is stupid! (by sam i mean sam series, not the guy himself)
Some may find those books easy but i think they are not that well put together. There are others "made easy" books that are better composed and more effective.

i have had a glance through SAM at the library and its Okay! at uni SAM was recommended but books by Deitel' How to program in VB.NET/VB' apparently are better. SAM is a maybe, and is it worth investing in programming books, because every year there is always an advanced version of the language:?

MSDN is enough and a very good resource + google.

but if u still want to buy a book, then i'll recommend microsoft training kit book, a very comprehensive and well-written book, moreover it'll help you (insha'Allah) to give their certification test MCSD as well.

As Salam Aleykum Guys,

The time is not 14:27 here, and I have been told that some stuff on here is violating copyright. I have a complete lack of knowledge in this matter so I will await the arrival of someone with more knowledge. In the meanwhile, if any of you know that you have posted stuff which should not have been and uploaded the likes then I ask to please remove it.

Thank you all so much and JazakumAllahu Kharyn.

The books are not your latest edition out that is being ripped out from profits for the author. All of these can be available at your local public library also, unless you don't have those in your area mr nameless?

:sl: I dun think so language vb.net will be of any burden in learning the concept of the web-based programming which basically this book covers using asp.net 2.0 feature (where also knowing asp.net 1.1 is not prerequisite for that book). vb.net is easier to understand as its the basic programming lang. and this book is basically for the beginners. The real programming concepts come when you work in professional environment.

I have read few chapters (beginning chapter) and i found it really good giving the basic concept of internal system-flows of how the pages work, which mostly books dont discuss.

I dun have CD of that book, but as i read in microsoft website that CD includes code samples. you can use following websites for downloading vb projects as well

like

http://www.asp.net
www.codeproject.com
www.dotnetspider.com/ and many different sites full of vb.net projects.

They play movies in Cinema, but that doesn't give u the right to download that movie (ripped movie). or bc Red Alert2 is old, it doesn't give u the right to download it as a pirate, but you still have to buy (it's about 5 pounds), even though it's cheaper , u should still not use it without buying the licence.
As muslims we are not supposed to use pirate software/movies or copyrighted books without getting or buying it properly. You think this is a thing we shouldn't pay attention but it's quite important. We are obligated by Allah swt to respect other people's right as long as they don't contradict with Islamic teachings.

I highly recommend you this book for VB:

Introduction to Programming with Visual Basic.NET
by David I. Schneider

I learnt VB 6 using Introduction to Programming with Visual Basic 6.0 by the same author. Great book for beginners to programming :statisfie . It's a bit expensive:phew but it's worth it.
