The soldiers were not foreign though, they were Algerians.

Well, in my opinion. The attacker did not wear a uniform and was as such an illegal combatant. He did attack a military target though. But still, the fact that he posed as a civilian makes me lean towards 'terrorism'.

What do you think?

That would lead me to mention that our own CIA's Special Activities Division (the paramilitary boys) go in dressed as civilians (Afghanistan is an example, where they wear Afghani national dress and abduct, and murder), are also illegal combatants & terrorists, for conducting military operations disguised as civilians.

That would also make our own special forces illegal combatants & terrorists, since they also infiltrate wearing civilian clothes (so as not to be identified as American soldiers), and commit acts of sabotage, and murder.

After all, we summarily executed German soldiers on the spot, after being caught infiltrating our lines disguised as civilians in order to conduct acts of sabotage and assassinations.

The same is true for those Israeli commando's who dress up as Arabs, infiltrate Palestiinian territory and assassinate Palestinians.

That is true for any recognized nation-state military units that adobt that same tactic.

If a foreign country should capture those troops disguised as civilians and committing terroristic acts, they have every right to take away their rights; the Geneva Convention wouldn't apply to them; and they should send them to their local version of Guantanamo Bay.

If we can do that to others, they have every right to treat us in a similar manner...
