Bush Writes Letter to Gaddafi

| IslamToday / Agencies|
11 July 2007

US President George W. Bush has written to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi calling for the development of ties between Washington and its one-time foe, the official JANA news agency said today.

The message was handed to Gaddafi by Mr Bush's homeland security adviser Frances Townsend during a visit to Libya.

"The letter thanked Col. Gadhafi for halting his weapons of mass destruction program and renouncing his support for terrorism," Gordon Johndroe, a spokesman for the National Security Council, said Tuesday. "President Bush reiterated his position that adherence to these agreements is critical to the developing relationship between the United States and Libya."

"President Bush noted the importance of resolving outstanding issues, specifically for victims of Pan Am 103 and La Belle bombings, as well as the situation of the detained Bulgarian nurses and doctor in Libya," Johndroe said.

The JANA news agency quotes the letter as saying: "We've accomplished a lot through the return of relations between the United States of America and the Great Jamahiriya (Libya)... I think our peoples have benefited from the development that is witnessed by these relations," JANA quoted the letter as saying.

It said Mr Bush expressed his desire to "develop and consolidate" relations with the one-time pariah state.

Diplomatic ties between Washington and Tripoli were restored in June 2004 after a almost a quarter of a century, following Gaddafi's announcement in December 2003 he was abandoning ambitions to build weapons of mass destruction.

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Assalaamu 3alaikum wa rahmatullaah wa Barakaatuh,
Libya has nothing to gain and everything to loose by restoration of relations with the U.S.and England. They decide when to sever relations and when to restore them as if we are always waiting at their door, like a dog with our tongue sticking out.

The relationship with the U.S. and the European bloc is a one way street! It is always a master-slave relationship. They demand, dictate and intervene in every detail while the other side always complies, pleases and gives. Nothing comes from having European and American embassies and companies except headaches and problems to the host country. Spy networks, intelligence agents, assassins, recruitment of local agents and informants (by CIA, FBI, MI5, etc.), half-naked tourists who expect bars and beaches and disturb the local social fabric and way of life. It is best to be free from all this and Libyahas enjoyed this freedom since the evacuation of American and British bases and nationalizing of their oil companies. Freedom from Western influences and products breeds true independence and self-reliance in every sector, not the least stimulating and propelling the national genius and creativity.

Why would Bush be concerned with the Bulgarian nurses! They are not American citizens and neither are they connected to the U.S. in any way. The answer is they are European and Christians and, of course, European blood is precious while Muslim blood is cheap!

In the case of flight 103 over Lockerbie, which was not proven against Libya, Western powers united and forced sanctions against Libya both unilaterally and thru the U.N. in addition to demanding compensation for the families of the victims. Libya has paid $3 billion to the families as compensation and two Libyan agents were handed over and tried in Europe (Scotland). Now, we have some 450 Libyan Muslim children infected with the AIDS virus in an alleged conspiracy involving 5 Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor (probably Christian) working in Libyan hospitals. The courts in Libya found the accused guilty and sentenced them to die. The Europeans and the Americans were outraged and have been putting great pressure on Libya to let the nurses go free and engaged their media in defense of the nurses, in a flagrant intervention in Libya's internal affairs and judicial system.

Where is the Arab league and the Conference of Muslim States? Why are they absent on the world stage even in issues involving Muslim victims and strategic Muslim interests and security?

Thousands of Muslims die every day at the hands of European Christians forces on Muslim lands without any leader raising a voice or taking an action (dogs are not afraid to bark!)
