As most Muslims will agree, music is haram in Islam. Recently there has been this new idea suggesting that music is not actually haram but a matter of difference of opinion. This obviously contradicts the clear texts in Islam.

Now, as for Muslim Green Pages (business directory), not many people are aware that they promote musical "nasheeds". Please sign this petition to show your disapproval of music and any connection with music in Islam.

How do they promote music?

In their 2007 edition, they advertised musical "nasheed" companies; 7th century Records (Blakstone) and Awakening (pages 376-378). This was not a genuine mistake, as we can see on the testimonials pages they have testimonials from Mesut Kurtis (artist - Awakening) and Wali-ur-Rahman (Chairman of Awakening). On their website they also have a testimonial from Hamed Rana (Director of 7th Century Records). This makes their opinion on music clear, as well as does their written policy on music which has been viewed by ex-employees of MGP.

InshaAllah this reaches the main people of MGP and make them realise they should take it out. If they do not take it out, sign to show your disapproval of what they are doing.

What else can YOU do to show your clear disapproval?

* Do NOT advertise with them; this will take away any moral support as well as financial support which would be further used to promote haram!
* Pass on this information along with the petition to your family, friends and contacts.

* Pass on this information and petition to Muslim businesses, organisations and Mosques.
* Through word of mouth.

You may even wish to contact them directly to ask them, and show your disapproval directly to them.
