Greetings Muslims!

My, what a hot summer it is here in America, but I can't complain since I can only imagine how hot it is where you folks live! I am starting to get old (I will be 51 in two days) and I figured that today would be as good as any to learn about what that Muhammad fellow was really about.

I want to know about Arabs and the Koran, because I might be taking a trip to Iraq for a year, and it would be good to know how to treat people. Now of course I know what not to do to anyone, especially like taking pictures pointing and such, but I think this is an excellent place to learn about your culture and have a peaceful interaction between different peoples.

Hi Marty!

It's a pleasure to have you amongst us and I'd love to share with you the teachings of Islam, and God willingly we will benefit from eachother. :) Your desire to buid bridges of understanding with others is truly admirable. An excellent place to start learning about Islam is the following website:
http://www.beconvinced.com

You asked about Muhammad (peace be upon him), who was the final messenger sent by God, confirming the message brought by Prophet Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and all the other Prophets (peace be upon them all). He preached the same message, that is to worship One God and to enjoin righteousness and forbid evil. For more information, I would refer you to the following links on Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him):
http://islamonline.net/English/In_De...24/index.shtml
http://islamtoday.net/english/prophet_main.cfm

As for the Qur'an (Koran is the less acurate spelling) it is believed to be God's final revelation to humanity confirming what was revealed before it and providing a source of guidance and mercy for the God-concious. On the Qur'an, here are some links describing and introducing the Qur'an:
http://islamtoday.net/english/discov...&sub_cat_id=41
http://www.islamonline.net/english/i.../topic03.shtml

You can read the english interpretation of the Qur'an here:

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask! :brother:

Warm Regards

Hello,

Welcome to the forum Pastor Marty. I just thought I'd clear up a quick misconception (not sure whether you thought this or I read too much in between the lines). There are American Muslims. There are Muslims on this board (many) who live in America. Not all Arabs are Muslims and not all Muslims are Arabs (definitely!!!)

However! Since I am a Muslim living in the Middle East, I would like to say, you bet! It's really hot right now!!:coolsis:

I want to know about Arabs and the Koran, because I might be taking a trip to Iraq for a year, and it would be good to know how to treat people. Now of course I know what not to do to anyone, especially like taking pictures pointing and such, but I think this is an excellent place to learn about your culture and have a peaceful interaction between different peoples.
Hopefully, we'll benefit each other!

Enjoy your stay,

Peace!
